Talking The Libertarians are coming

"CONCORD, N.H. — A group of libertarians announced a project Wednesday to get 20,000 Americans to move to New Hampshire and work to transform it into a "free state" with fewer laws, smaller government and greater liberty."

If it works my wife and I will be along shortly

Can't wait to see what Burt has to say about this

The 5,000 members have already pledged to move to the selected state, Free State Project organizers said. They hope to increase their numbers to 20,000 within two years and start transforming the state into a national model of liberty.

Some free-staters want to roll back restrictions on gambling, legalize medicinal marijuana and strengthen gun rights. But McKinstry said members also will work for charities and scholarship programs and help citizens get more involved in government.
Let’s see here, the Census bureau for the year 2000 has New Hampshire’s population estimated at 1,235,786. Now in a few years there will be 20,000 nut cases moving in to roll back restrictions on gambling, legalize medicinal marijuana, and God only knows what else they will try to F up.

If one does the math (correctly without smoking the piece pipe) as is obvious these nut cases have NOT then one would find that 20,000 people is only 1.62% or rounded up to 2%. It would make more sense for them to actually stop smoking plant life and infecting the environment with toxic pollution. They may have a shot, if for instance, they can find another 830,000 or so people to add to the other 20,000 thus giving them roughly a 40% presence. It is funny when you get some of these goofy groups actually thinking that they can move some people in and cause a change.

However on a positive note maybe McDonalds and Burger King will be able to use some of these people to properly staff their respected establishments so I can actually get some hot and fresh food when I visit…

I tell you, some day someone will become absolutely filthy rich when they finally invent a medication to rid these fantasy elusions some of these wackos have…

Ouch!! Dang 01...that stings...
I have to respect there effort to find a way to have more impact with their message of smaller government, more freedom, and personal responsibility. It is very difficult to get some of the narrow minded people of this country to see that there is more to politicical views than just Republicrats and Demolicans. This group understands that 20,000 people will not be enough to take over the state, but that is not what they are trying to do. They are trying to have a focused impact in a smaller area and in a state that already shares many of the same core beliefs that we Libertarians have...

LGJ: The constitution has never passed a law
As far as a law against it no...the people of this country are free to live where they please and be friends with like minded people.

They aren't trying to break away from the nation. They are trying to have a focused impact in government.
1st in local elections
2nd in state elections
then in national elections by getting into Congress and Senate.

Stan

BTW I was just messing with you

PBCrisis:

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Libertarians themselves or their beliefs so to speak. What I have a problem with is the mentality of any group, be it the Libertarians, Republicans, Democrats or tree humping liberals like Algore who think it’s ok to “try” and move in a group of people to “take over and solve problems” or create a different atmosphere when the local population and/or state is doing just fine the way they are.

It is kind of like when you have that person that is a new hired employee and thinks he/she is going to change the whole company because he/she knows what is best but the rest don’t. Rather then trying to win them over with their values and beliefs through debates and conversations, which may or may not work they simple figure “screw it” I will change it regardless of what everyone else thinks.

This is the same thing, since they cannot win over the majority of the population with their values and/or beliefs they simple what to bring a group of people to take over and “make” change happen. Here is the kicker, no matter how hard a group may try to take over and “make” change happen it never works. You can never force the majority of people to change with a very small minority at least not by forcing big changes. Even if they could do so over 30 – 40 years it would be done in a very small state so it would have little to no effect on the national level.

Personally I think the whole thing is done for publicity purposes to get a few more members to join. In the end it will end up a big failure but since it’s a small group, compared to the bigger groups the failure won’t really get noticed. It will just die a slow death down the road.

Myself being a republican would be very upset if others in the party were trying to forum a group to move in somewhere to try and take over local, city and state government. Main reason is I know it would be a failure and make the party look absolutely ridiculous. So it is not with Libertarians themselves I have a problem with it is those with this fantasy that such a small group on the national scene even thinks they can cause change and in making themselves look like an *** pick a state of which will be made fun of all because some plant life smoking wackos “had a fantasy”.

Every political party has there wacko extremists nut job crew. I believe they exist for entertainment purposes.

Sad part is this crazy Libertarian group still ranks above Liberals in my book. Hell with the way the Dem's have been acting like whiney sore loosers lately, I'll rank the Libertarian's above them to.
