Children in Regular Cab
Children in Regular Cab
Any parents who drive regular cabs in here?
My sister won't let me take my little nephew to go play putt-putt/arcade games because she feels that trucks are inherently unsafe. Sure, the front seats of a truck could never compare to the rear seats of a car in terms of safety but it couldn't be that dangerous to put a child in a regular cab.
I've also never had an accident and don't take out people's mailboxes like my other sis does LOL. That's so bad it's funny!

How small are the kids?
Airbags are pretty dangerous for small children as they just tend to hit them with their faces and not the full upper body thus breaking their necks.
If my youngest daughter rides in the front of my 150, I disable the passenger airbag.
In my wifes car, she rides in the back. I cannot switch off the bag.

As english adam said turn off the airbag switch and strap em in tight. If there tiny ones turn the carseat backwards and get it real tight and disable the switch.
Now when my wife goes on and on about anything while i am driving i often turn off the airbag switch until she quiets down.
It works well!!!!

these trucks have the steel beams in the doors.... and they sit high enough that if struck from the side you maybe take out the kids feet versus riding in the back of a car where an Expedition bumper would take out their head.
And yes, middle position of back seat. What if you have 2 kids? Baby in centre and the toddler on an outboard position which is far more unsafe in a samll car than a heavy truck.
Laws of physics!
I have the reg cab and I feel much safer with my 1 y.o. in there than in our Focus or the RAV4 wifey had before that.

He's 6, 7 in December. She's 5 since May. Yes, I will disable the airbag when there are children riding although that has NEVER happened since no one will let their kids ride in my truck LOL, which goes back to my original question.
