Several European countries produce more per hour per worker than the U.S.

That helps Europeans afford to work fewer hours, according to an April 2003 Conference Board report that ranks a number of nations ahead of the U.S in GDP per capita per hour.

The ILO report out this week says three nations - Norway, France and Belgium - are ahead in output per hour.

So, in some cases, less may indeed be more."

Why do a job in 10 hours if you can do it in 20.
Well you could have a point there. I guess if I lived in socialist country that takes most our money to fund their socialist programs then I guess I would have to figure out a way to work a bit smarter so I didn’t need to work 20 hour days to afford the nice things in life.

No matter how hard the liberals try here in America they will never turn it into a socialist country like France and thus Americans on a whole will always make more money and have more goodies then their “work smarter” socialist counterparts.

And to top that off America will always be a superpower capable of taking over a little weak county such as France but I believe France knows America would never think of that, we have enough people receiving handouts here and who needs millions more whiny kids screaming for free things…

Yep, there sure are a bunch of “smarter” people in France…

WOW alot of smart cookies here

To answer the drag racing question.....Bracket racing, such as tapping the brakes before you hit the timing lights. Also hitting the brakes so as not to show your hand. AKA your true speed, as the mph is a truer indicator of horsepower, where as ET is more of a traction issue.

Now my question, "How in the hell did RP become a moderator?"

billycouldride, sorry for not being clear. Carbon is not the reslut of fire, it was always present, but the carbon atoms were bonded with other atoms to create the `fuel` element, and when the bonds were broken, carbon is one of the basic elements left (as are whatever was bonded with the carbon atoms to make the original `fuel` element), and then the carbon atoms bond with Oxygen atoms to form Carbon Dioxide or Carbon Monoxide, so it was always there, just going from being in one bonded state to another bonded state.

How right you are EnglishAdam, but don't forget about the Sexagesimal (base 60) Number System:

The Sumerian culture developed the Sexagesimal Numberbing system some 4000 to 6000 years ago. This system was developed into a rigoruous numbering system. The digits used were symbols which represented syllables instead of letters that were pressed into clay tablets. There were symbols representing ones and tens and were combined to represent the number of each place value. See the following site for more information about the Sumerian numbering system. http://it.stlawu.edu/~dmelvill/mesomath/index.html

Each place value to the left is equal to 60 times the place value to the right which implies that each place value to the right is equal to the place value to the left divided by 60. It was up to the context of the number to determine where the place values began. Also, the place values may be fractions of base 60 numbers, ie. 1/60, 1/3600, etc.

3600, 60, 1, 1/60, 1/3600

The use of 60 as a grouping number was used by many cultures throughout our earth's history. This may be because 60 has many factors, including 12 (which also has many factors) and was convenient to use for trading, counting, etc. because of its divisibility. Our notations of time into 60 seconds and 60 minutes uses a from of this numbering system, but is not as rigorous because of the 24 for hours and the subdivisions of seconds into milliseconds, etc.

End of class

star trek ?:

if the ship is also moving at the speed of light, wouldnt the light coming out of the ship still be moving at the spped of light away from the ship? lets say, twice the speed of light?

Thanks for sharing where babies come from guys! They always said I was the slow one, but I knew they came from the store or something, not from the stork! HA! My instincts were right!
Now, another question that has been bothering me. Do any of you guys get a special feeling when girls walk in the room? It's hard to explain, I don't remember it happening when I was younger, actually, I think I avoided girls when I was younger; but now, when they get near me, I have these "special feeling's" that are hard to describe. Call me crazy, but I think they feel good. Maybe I should just see the doctor, this might be serious.

Nope.

Back in 1887 Albert Michelson and Edward Morley carried out a very careful experiment at the Case School of Applied Science in Cleveland.

They proved that the speed of light is finite, but were unable to prove why.

In 1905, some wise guy named Einstein figured out the "Why" part of the equation... E=MC^2

The speed of light is always 186,000 miles per second.

Right. If you were actually able to go faster than the speed of light, then you would pass the light that is coming from the front of your vehicle. For example, a digital clock. If you have a clock that says `5:00`, and you sped away from that clock at the speed of light, then by the time the clock changed to `5:01`, you would still be with the light that says `5:00`, and if you went faster, you would eventually catch the light from the clock that says `4:59`, so you wouldn't be going back in time, but everything you see would appear to be what happened at `4:59`, not `5:01`, and therefore, you would be at `5:01`, but everything would appear to be at `4:59`, or relative to your speed. This is how the speed of light is relative to time, as stated in Einstein's theory of relativity. If the speed of light is constant, then the light would be moving at 186,000 mps, no matter where it originates from, and if your ship is moving 187,000 mps, then you'd better have a good navigator, or your gonna hit some asteroids, because you won't be able to see them coming.

but, if the source of light is moving at the speed of light, wouldnt the light coming out of the source be moving faster?

lets thing of it this way: as you drive faster, do your head lights project less far as compared to driving slower?

Sorry to be such a big dork here.

The speed of light will always be the same. It cannot travel faster if it is being emitted from a source that is traveling at speed. It is one of those exceptions of newtonian physics.
