Window Tint

I just bought some window tint from walmart. I got the street midnight black kind. Its 2%. Is this going to be too dark? I mean i still want to be able to see out of it. Im not too worried about the legality issues.

btw any tips. They had a 5% type that was static apply. I dunno about that would the static have been better? i got the kinda u spray ur windows with water then apply. Ive never dont this before so i hope it dosnt turn out looking like crap. Its on a 1991 ranger standard cab with sliding back glass.

Well, you won't be seeing ***** out of your back window.
I put 5% over top of the Ford factory rear window tint, and I can tell you, I can't see squat out there.
At night, I can tell if there's headlights behind me, but other than that, forget it.

I've gotten used to it, but if I was doing it all over again, I wouldnt go that dark.
On a positive note, people behind you won't be able to inside at all, so if privacy is important, you will get it in spades, lol

Here's a couple of pics to show how dark it is, one is with the window open, the other is closed.

One more thing, I've seldom seen a "do it yourself" window tint that didnt look like crap. Maybe you will be the exception, but all the "do-it-yourself" jobs I've seen have all looked purple instead of black, and had many air bubbles. If it turns out good, please post some pics, but if it looks like a dogs breakfast, then take it off and have a pro do it.

Good luck
Habibi

Like Habibi said, if it is only 2%, it will be almost impossible to see out of. I have 15% on my back window, which is the legal limit here, and it is hard for me to see out of at night. I think that 2% would be a little dangerous as you wouldn't be able to see anything out of the rear view mirror at cars behind you and might get over in front of them or something.

One thing is to make sure you have a squeege handy or else there will be air bubbles. I have seen several that the people done their selves and some looked ok and some looked terrible. A professional can do so much better.

If I were you, I would take the 'kit' stuff back and just have it professionally done. I have seen too many crappy 'self tint' jobs.
Can you really put a price on something you will have to look at (or out of) for a long time?

professional tint jobs are so affordable (couple hundred TOPS)

and they generally come with lifetime warranties against cracking, peeling and bubbling.
