anodize removal???

Don't have a clue where to post this, so I thought here would be nice.

Does anyone know of any way to safely (i.e. not sandpaper) remove anodized color from aluminum? I've got some blue/red fittings, and I can't stand the blue/red color...

Easy-off oven cleaner. It may take a couple cleanings to get it all off though.

Really?

I'll give it a try. Do you need to scrub, or just let it soak...

thanks...

let it soak, if the alum, has a "grain" be sure that if you whip it with anything slittely abrasive , go with the grain. the easy off works very good. also remember that after stripped , you have a raw alum. part that will corode. might want to check with a metal finissher and get the parts clear anodized.

Wow, that worked great! Thanks!

As you can see I'm not looking for show quality, so I just touched them up a little with steel wool, then Krylon Clear...
