Smile 1st timer

Hello all! I am a newbie here but I do drive a f150 so I guess I'll fit in. Can someone direct me to where I can get info on getting better gas mileage on my gas guzzling 5.4? I would like to know about air filters, exhaust, chips, and other mods that may help my gas mileage out. Thanks for your !

Ford adapts to modifications very well. From K&n Air intake kits to chips and exhausts. There are a lot of posters here that are far more astute with how tos and such than I am but you posted in a pretty good place. You should get a few answers tonight and several tomorrow.

You might also try posting in "Engines".

Welcome.

Welcome to F150online!

Go for the proven performance enhancements like FIPK, chip, exhaust, ect.
The trick is, that when you add performance parts, you are supposed to lay off the gas. So the added performance makes your truck do more while using less gas. Of course most of us don't do that. Varooooom, Varooooom!
Don't fall for those stupid gadjets you see on TV; magnetic fuel line thingy, or the whirly jet thingy for your intake, ect.
You can always reduce wind resistance and weight for free.
If you want really good milage, get a motorcycle.

The answer is simple, mod your engine just like Neal and you'll get 23.2 mpg.

I can give you some firsthand info on your question.
Before I added a FIPK and Superchip Tuner program
I was getting 13.6 mpg with my 5.4. AFTER the
mods I'm down to about 11.6 mpg. As someone
said, if you want good gas mileage...buy a cycle. I've
yet to find a solution to the 5.4's gas "suckage"
problems. Of course, as andthensometoo said, it
really is hard to keep your foot out of it once you
add the mods. If you are looking to keep the
mileage you have I would forgo the mods...of
course if won't be nearly as fun.

Thanks for they info everyone! I do believe if I could change my driving habits I could add at least one mile per gallon to my fuel consumption. Mods could possibly help too. I do have a motorcycle already though. Gas mileage is about 37ish on the bike. BTW, it is my most favorite form of transportation. Nothing like firing up the busa for a blast down the road. Thanks again everyone!
