Answered the poll as well, but must say I like them as I have a full backpiece, as well as both sides of my chest and upper arms are done. I had all my work done while in Germany just about 20 years ago. Only a few pieces are flash, the rest are all custom.

have two.

got the first about 18 years ago, the second almost 6 years ago.

both were free hand work.

both black ink, one has a little grey mixed in for shadowing. the last one was two oak leaves & an acorn to celebrate the birth of our son.

i got them for me, and like rugby3, they are easily covered by a shirt. both are significant to me, and i have never regretted it.

I have 2 right now, and plan on getting a back piece done sometime. I love them. I ususally think about a piece for about a year before I actually get it. I make damn sure it is something I want on my body - and it is always a personal design. I would never walk into a tattoo shop, and just pick out a "pretty design on the wall" and get that.

I have one on my upper right arm. It has my three daughters' names on it and has five different colors. I have it for 12 years. I may get more some day?

I voted

it doesn't matter to me. It's all personal choice. BTW, I have an eagle on my right arm, got it 22 yrs ago after I joined the military. Always said I was going to get more down to it ie. add a flag or something, never did.

What ya'll pay? Mine was $40 back then. Places quote a heck of a lot more to recolor it (not that it's really needed).

My tatoo artist had FU@K YOU tatoo'd on the inside of his lip. Said more females wanted to barter instead of pay

Personally I like them if they're professionally done, in a good location. I have one on each arm (upper arm) and one on each leg. I'm going to get another soon, probably a band on my arm.

Don't have one, but why I don't have one is worth mentioning.

My first real job had me working with a bunch of former military guys. Some had been in WWII, a few in Korea or Vietnam. Many had tattoos from when they were in the service. Seeing what 40 years does to a tattoo has always kept me from getting one.

I'd be fascinated to see what that 9 color flaming eyeball my nephew has on his shoulder looks like in 2050.

I voted doesn't matter.

I don't like large/numerous gaudy ones on females though.

I never got one because my grandfather regretted the ones he had until the day he died.

He even wanted one hand on top of the other in his casket at his funeral to hide the one on his hand. They were fairly subdued, he got them during war-time.

Before I get old and grey, I'm getting a tattoo of a purple heart with flames rising from it. That way I can always say I have flaming purple "Heart-on".

The ones that some women...usually the 'beauty-challenged' and/or the ones that haven't seen the South side of 250lbs. since they were in high school have on their calves and ankles...to me...do nothing to make them look more attractive.
