I need help finding a job!

I think I posted something like this a while back, but can't remember. But I need some input from you guys. I posted it on another site, but it is not nearly as big as this one is so I might get more from here.

Is there anyone here that is an electronic technician or an equivalent? I am going into my last week of school for my bachelors degree in Elctronic Engineering Technology and I need some suggestions on some good places to get a good job. I had a decent job but the branch I was at shut down so everyone was laid off. I didn't work for several weeks, then I finally had to go to Walmart to work. I had a hard time finding a job because of my school hours were from 10:30 to 3:30 and not many jobs around here had schedules where I could work and go to school.

Now that I am getting out of school and graduating in a couple of weeks, I am going to get serious about getting a job. I am struggling as it is and I need something that pays real well. I got loans for all of my school, but in six months I have to start paying that back. I paid close to (if not over) $40,000 dollars for school for 3 years, and I don't want to be stuck at Walmart or anywhere that is not in the field that I studied, which is electronics. That would be a waste of all that money and time that I spent going to school.

I will likely graduate with a 3.8 or higher GPA which is high honors. I also graduated the associates program with over a 3.8. I just want something that makes me feel like spending the time and money that I spent to go to school worth it. Plus, I want to eventually get a house and a family, as I still live at home right now.

Any suggestions???

I would try Siemens. They are a global company. My father is an Electrical Engineer and works for them. They currently have alot of positions open all over the United States.

I have an electrical/electronics background and have worked in the Oil and Gas industry for the last 20 years.
The job isn't always on your doorstep but usually pays pretty good and gives you the opportunity to travel.
Check out the websites for the major service companies in the industry. They are always looking for gaduates in electronics.
Type in the names Baker Hughes - Schlumberger - Halliburton into you fave search engine and check out their home pages.
There is always a link to their carreers page.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

I have sat through a presentation with Shlumberger at our school a few weeks ago. It sounds like a great job, but I don't think that I could pshyically do the job. I am not very tall or super strong and working with some of that is very hard work.

I may look at Siemens websites tonight when I get off work.

Thanks

Cool

Don't forget the Space Center in Florida. There are TONS of electronics-based companies there, and there are always listings for skilled positions.

I grew up there, and I know lots of folks that make a good living in that industry.

Good luck.

If your interested, Bell South will hire Inustrial Electronics Techs. I have a friend in NC who currently works at Bell South and his job has to do with "server maintenance" or something like that. I'm not really sure. Btw, as you may know my major is under Industrial Electronics Technician, and my final test this semester will be an actual Bell South written test. I graduate next Summer, so I'll be in the same boat you're in. Best of luck to you!
