Beware of the tree huggers
I think domestic, misguided terrorist is a more fitting name (though more time consuming to type) than tree huggers. I'm pro-enviroment, but not an extremist. I think it's necessary to preserve the environment, but not through terror and violence.
Where would this country, or the world for that matter, be if there were people "protesting" like this when we were first setteling this country, or "protesting" the industrial revolution (the revolution that caused the most damage)? We would have something more like Iraq.
In this country we have freedoms. One which we greatly value is the freedom of speach. It doesn't matter what kind of hair brained cause someone might believe in, they have the freedom to speak their mind (or lack of it) about it. We are not free to commit terrorist acts or use violance to speak our minds. That is criminal and should be aggresively enforced.
We have too many bleeding hearts in this country. As 01 XLT Sport puts it "brain washed" people. They do have web sites but as 01 and I have seen once people start contradicting their cause they'll shut it down. www.idontcareaboutair did exactly that. They were against the SUV's and resorted to "tagging". When many people had intelligent rebuttles they just shut the whole message board down.
It makes me sick that idiots like ELF continue to get away with these actions. There actions are far, far worse than what anyone in an SUV's are. I guess it's just too hard for them to accept reality and deal with life like the rest of us. It's too hard for them to just do their part and encourage, not force, others to do the same. It's just not enough for them to mind their own buisness and let others live their lives. Dumb a$$es!
Yes, I'm for the environment. I enjoy it so I would like it preserved for all to enjoy. I'm not going to give up my V8 though. I enjoy that too. I'll do my part. It would be nice if they could just do theirs!

If he owns a lightning and a boat I would not call him a treehugger. Someone who actually cares about the environment yes, treehugger no.
Difference -
I get pissed when I see people litter.
I get pissed when I see many state vehicles, busses heading towards AC, school busses, and road constructions flashing light signs that operate of a diesel engines instead off of solar panels and batteries pouring out clouds of black smoke into the air.
I get pissed on the fact that 2 minutes from house they destroyed acres of land just to put in another freakin highway.
None of that makes me a environmentlist treehuggin hippy. Just someone who actually cares about the environment and air the they have to breath.
Going out and sabatoging things like new cars and housing developements = terrorist
Going out and protesting = tree hugging hippy
Going out and helping to clean up the environment, ie making a difference not whining for a difference =
.... at least by my definations
I see nothing wrong with what captainoblivious posted and neither would I consider him a treehugger. I think it is great for someone to care about the environment. I myself care about the environment, more them some, and less then others.
I think it is fine if someone has a deep conviction for a cause to do what they can within legal means to try and persuade the public to their side. However, if they can not persuade the public to their side, or view of things then they must be able to accept that the majority has spoken. Ill regardless if they feel the majority is wrong that is how it is.
If the majority of the public believes it is good for the environment to cut down trees in the forest, within reason were it is not clear cutting, but to cut down one in three trees, and/or to clear out old falling trees or brush so as to prevent forest fires then so be it, if that is what the majority feels is the correct path then that is how it is and should be. It should not be up to some individual judge somewhere to rule otherwise when the majority has spoken within legal means.
The ones I have a problem with is those that think if the majority does not do as they wish they will force their will upon them. This is a typical treehugger, don’t care about the public, don’t care about the children of our society, and does not care what is the best interest of his/her city, town or society in general. They are hell bent on having it their way regardless of what others think.
Kind of like people who own land with some stupid endangered frog and won’t let them build on it for fear it will wipe out the stupid frog. Hey, the frog has to go, that’s nature, that’s the life cycle. If the frog is really needed to balance out nature it will be back somewhere else. Nature takes care of it self just fine, things go instinct all the time and some things come back.
I am the type that always ask for a paper bag because that is what is best for the environment, paper is a good thing, chopping down a tree is a good thing. It provides job and is a renewable source (it will grow again). We have more forest today then we did over 200 years ago, so make someone happy and chop down a tree today…

Anyone who cannot grasp the concept that burning down a H2 or other vehicle is more harmfull to the environment then that vehicle will make during it's lifetime is a little more then *misguided*.
They do have a website, which I happened across while reading the story about the dealership on a firefighters' forum.
Apparently their website and email is the only way they communicate with the press. After checking out their site, it's no wonder why they refuse to show themselves in public. Scary stuff. Kind of on the same lines as some of the "how-to arson cookbooks" I've seen my arson investigator friends acquire from milita-group types.

Yep, just like terriost NO *****, and complete wussy's. If you yelled at them in person they would break out crying, freaking little freaks, no need for them on earth at all, would be best if they were all DEAD...
Well well.........give me a M1A1 Abram and showed them to fear gas guzzlers!
Oddly thought Envirofreaks are the reason why we have suvs. In all techincality suvs are the enivromentalists' bastard redheaded children.
I'll tell you why later.
Gonna go watch the Quiet American.

Look back in the hay day of 25 cents a gallon and cars that got 10 miles to gallon if they we're lucky.........those days were great. Overabundance of horses and enough torque to to leave your mark on the earth 8 miles long. But then something happened
Hippies.
They came, they saw, they ****ed around with the automakers. They cried and whined that our engines were to powerful and to gas guzzling, and that our smoking habit was killing the enviroment. So since the automakers would not listen the hippies cried and whine to the Feds, like the little bitches they are. So the Feds getting involved caused Ford, GM, and Chrysler to cut back on the smoking habit and trim its waist on gas guzzling. So the automakers had to kill off the station wagons(forebearer of suvs and minivans and crossovers). Station wagons being bigger, needed bigger engines, thus big gas guzzling v8's. But since gas guzzling was now under pressure to be greatly reduced, the v8s had to dissappear or weight had to be reduced greatly. CAFE was invented to keep the automakers up to par on thier waist trimming. So big v8's started to dissappear, and so did big cars. Station wagons being the biggest were virtually killed off in the beginning. So cars improved in fuel economy. But trucks didn't. Interestingly, CAFE did not put trucks into the mix. Trucks being workhorses, needed big engines, and were heavier to carry/tow/ and push things.
Sometime later in the future.....(the past now)
GM, Ford, Chrysler realized that trucks (and truck based vehicles(jeeeppppppssss!!!)) were not affected. So then the big treeeeeeee decided to build station wagon like vehicles on truck platforms (broncos/suburbans/wagoneers). This went unnoticed for a little while. Chrysler then supposedly "invented" the mini-van(another ugly station wagon) and the Jeep Cherokee. Ford countered by taking thier little ranger/bronco 2 and giving it four doors (the famous and infamous Explorer) and building the ugly aerostar. GM took thier s-10/s-15 and give it four doors as well and invented the blazer/jimmy. GM then reinvented the suburban with four doors, sometime later ford makes expy, chrysler makes more minivans and a dodge suv, ford capitalizes on expy and makes excursion (over the top failure). Of course during this time other "suvs" enter the market. Hummers, Crossovers (avalanche), subarus.
So because of the enviromentalists raping the automakers, the automakers produced the redheaded bastard child: Sport Utility Vehicle.
Damn hippies. The irony is that they're trying to kill thier "mistake" by attacking it and the automakers some more.
I'm willing to bet the v8 powered station wagon will return with a vengence on those hippies.

I agree that we should conserve parts of the environment, but at a resonable rate.
They hate hunting. In the past when the human race didn't know how to raise animals like cattle or chickens, turkeys, etc. We hunted for food. We were (and still are) part of the food chain. We are the highest on that food chain, but still a part. A bear eats fish and other small animals, lions eat whatever animal they can catch. It has been going on for eons.
"The only reason 50% of the world is still here, is because it is illegal to kill them" A quote from a fellow gun enthusiast.

I agree that we should conserve parts of the environment, but at a resonable rate and there is a point in which common sense needs to take over. As was said before, they have no common sense. I am buying a new truck so that it gets better gas mileage (a move to save money more than the environment, but I get two birds with one stone).

The site you're looking for is http://www.earthliberationfront.com - I didn't really want to provide these nuts with any more publicity than they're already getting, but since we're perpetuating an entire message thread to them, I guess I'm not really going to accomplish much on my own...
