Question New Garage Vacuum, Which one?

Hello all

I am needing a new vacuum for my garage/truck. I currently have a ShopVac that is about 5 years old and not up to my standards anymore. My question is what kind of vacuums do some of you have that you like. I was happy with the ShopVac that I had, but the thing was so dang loud!! (it was even the QSP or "quiet" version)

Anyone have opinions about other brands? Sears Craftsman, Rigid, or maybe the NEW ShopVacs are a little quieter? I see that a lot of the new ones can be converted into a Blower ect....

Thanks!

I would be willing to bet that either Rigid or Shop Vac makes Sears vacs...

Like Kenmore refrigerators, they don't make many of their electrical goodies.

I've always been very happy with my Shop Vac but, you're right, it's MEGA-LOUD.

That's true...Whirlpool makes all of Sears' major appliances. And I agree about the lousness of the Shopvac.

I've used Rigid and it was pretty quiet but not a lot of sucking power.

I use the little (1 gal.) Shop Vac and it's loud as crap, too. My father-in-law has a 5 gal Rigid that works pretty well. Don't really remember how loud it is.

I have the big stainless steel drum vac from shop vac.

it doesn't convert into anything and it is sort of loud and it was expensive but wholly crap it works better than those monsters at the self serve car wash! it has a 3" hose and a bunch of attachments. and will inhale anything. I will be using it on one side of the truck and stuff from my kids will be coming out from under the seat on the other side of the truck!

I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything else!

Thanks for the replies all. Looks like I'll probably will stick with the Shop Vac again, I liked the power that my old one had also, just sucked up too much junk in its lifetime to be effective.

Looking at getting a new Magnaflow cat-back for the truck also....maybe I'll rig up the old muffler on the new shop vac to quiet her down a little.
