Check all ground connections, and make sure that the battery connections are clean.

If all the all ground connections and battery connections seem fine then try tapping on the starter itself with a hammer.

This will sometimes get will get a bad starter to turn over.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, ill try it out later. Thanks. But there is no sound, u put the key in ignition and all the normal sounds, fuel pumps and ignition etc. happen except no engine turning. So i guess it must be the starter. Radio works and so does everything else.

Wouldn't hurt to try and jump it. The starter uses waaaay more juice than the radio. You could have enough power for accessories, but not enough to make it go. Check the headlights to see if they are dim.

If you have a strong battery, then it is either starter or a ground like previous posters have pointed out.

It definately sounds electrical to me however; I'm no mechanic. Did it start all at once (or die all at once I should say) or was he potentially having issues earlier?

turn on headlights and turn key. headlights dim out bad batt.

no sound at ALL from turning key, no click,grind,moan....could be a short in wiring. good luck finding it, easier to let shop, but expensive. took me an hour one time to find one. i was very lucky it was noticeable.

turning key returns click then nothing, could be starter or batt. acting up. tap starter as stated or try to jump as stated.

let us know what it was.

Has it happened before? Could be a dead spot in the starter.

Also try jiggeling the shift lever in park and neutral...could be a neutral safety switch.
