praise for workers

in another topic it was mentioned to give a manager praise about his employees, because they would appreciate it.
this made me think of an incident a few months ago. i went to a jewlery shop to get my g/f a ring. the girl who helped me was great and very helpful. when i went in to purchase the ring she was not there.(i thought of coming back another time but...)
i asked the girl who rung up the purchase if they got comm. she said yes. i then asked her to ensure the girl who had done all the "prep work" get at least half for her trouble.
when i got home i called the store and spoke to the manager, i told her about the first girls excellent service, and help, and patience dealing with a pita like me.
she said the girl would get the whole comm. and thank you for the comments, she would be sure to tell the sales girl.
when i picked the ring up after sizing the original girl was there, she looked at me and said oh you bought the ring. i asked her if she had been told that i called....no.
i said i talked to your manager, who is she.
the manager happened to be there, and looked very surprised, when i asked her why she had not informed the girl of my call.
apparently the comm had mistakenly gone to the manager.

the point of this little story is don't just give the praise to their managers, tell workers when you appreciate them.

and that, WC is why I usually hand tips directly to the waitress, hairdresser ect.
If a sales person helps me, and I don't make a purchase rightaway, but they give me a biz card and write their name and the items I was interested in on the back of it, I bring that card back and ask for that person.

I am the same way. When I tip a waitress or the lady that cuts my hair I hand THEM the cash...

Pretty good here...I've been hanging out at the quad
boards as well. I don't get here as much as I used
to. Have you seen Cslinger around here lately?
