I've never seen a President or a Presidential candidate that wasn't a good armchair quarterback.
I think we are beginning to get stuck in the muck that is post invasion Iraq. It will never turn into a Vietnam (as far as body count), but it may be a loooooong deployment of troops and financial support.

I wouldn't say I gotcha on that comment, I just took it to the logical progression you would have eventually anyway. Your answers are usually so well thought out it very seldom leaves room for additional comments.

Of course you're right, what was I thinking.
The beauty of it is, Odin's Wrath, you and me are Veterans. We're golden, can't be touched.

Here's another thought. War is expensive.
Do you think that instead of two or three troops getting popped each day maybe if like 30 to 40 got whacked per day the war would be over sooner?
Afterall it is NECESSARY so, lets get on with it. This dragging it out with nickel and dime payments to the Grim Reaper is taking too long and time is money.

Being a war monger is fun.
OK, let's determine yearly auto deaths divided by 365 and that will be our acceptable NECESSARY daily Iraq death toll.

I can live with that.

I'm feelin' much better now, thanks guys!

Well it's one, two, three what the hell we fight'n for?
I don't know, who gives a damn
Next stop is Iraq Land
and it's five, six, seven
open up them pearly gates
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
whoopie we're all gona die.

As for the photos, the issue could have been handled with more tact. I don't think anything in the Geneva Conventions covers the dead in this aspect, but in either case there were alternatives.

As for post war Iraq, I don't think most people see the big picture. We are obligated by international law to stay until we restore government to Iraq.

At this point the interim Iraqi council has the authority to write a constitution. Setting up and holding elections will take some time.

As someone who did serve, I find that it sucks that men are being killed in Iraq. It sucks just as bad that many die in training, or due to drunk drivers at home. What sucks even more is the number of Iraqi's that have died over the years under the regime.

The international community had a part in arming and creating this monster, and then turned our backs after the first Gulf War and let it grow once again. Depending on which statistics you want to believe, somewhere between about a half million and a million Iraqi's died.

We screwed it up, we should fix it.

On a somewhat related note, there was a UN resolution supporting the formation of the Iraqi Council, and recognizing them as a legitimate first step. There was also support for the efforts in a new government being pushed by the US and UK. This same resolution once again mentions the need to rid Iraq of WMDs. The vote in support of it was unanimous, with the exception that Syria abstained.

Sorry serotta, didn't mean to confuse anyone.

Here is my serious answer.
It's bigger than you or I.
We can't solve it. We can just argue and get upset with each other to no avail.

I don't follow it.
Not past the headlines, I don't watch the talking heads.
I keep up to date at the gas pump.
Below $1.50 per gal and things are going pretty good.
Above $1.50 and something bad is happening.

Raoul, Just kidding about the not knowing part....

But, thanks for the summary. I admit, I'd rather be watching Becker or Lopez than CNN or Larry King or a host of others. I prefer my own slant on things even if it's eventually proven wrong, at least it's something I can believe in.
The consumer index is as good as anything to deciding my take on world actions.

Funny, as long as I've been combing the internet (ever since Gore cranked it up.) I've never belonged to a site. This is the first one. Can't put my finger on it, but it always felt like home, even when I was just lurking for a few years before becoming active.
Guess it's the people here. You can get an honest opinion without someone making you feel unwelcome.
