This stage 5 package is enough to make any non-Lightning owner drool.
I wrote to Mike to inquire as to how much this package would cost to get installed, and the answer was approximately $1,800 to $2,000. Seems to me this is a really good price for everything to be installed and tuned.
I showed my wife (to test the waters) and she was surprisingly hip to the idea. I thought she would start screaming and whatnot, but she kind of liked the idea.
Now looks like everything would cost around 10K out the door, I know this is a lot of coin, but looks to me like you get a lot for it.
I've even suggested that sometime next spring we could take a nice camping trip down to VA, and have this done while we're down there.
A couple of my friends have told me that I'm crazy to spend that much money, when I could just buy a "crate engine" for substantially less, and have the same amount of power. I know my friends mean well, but I'm guessing maybe they are wrong.
What do you guys think? Is there a better value to be had out there like my friends suggest? The thought of having a 400+ horsepower 4WD supercab kinda gives me a woody, and I know Mike T has a good reputation for knowing what's good for our trucks, and what's not. This is why I think having him do it would give me very good piece of mind.

Stage5-COPA For 1997 thru 2003 Ford F-150 (all models except SVT Lightning & supercharged Harley) & 1997-2002 Ford Expedition with 5.4 V8 engine. Also for 2000-2003 Ford F-150 and 2000-2002 Ford Expedition with 4.6 V8 engine & Automatic transmission.
This is the ultimate performance package without going inside your engine, everything in this package is external & almost all of the components are straight bolt-ons!
Our Stage 5 performance package for these vehicles includes all of the following:
Allen Engineering Supercharger Kit - This is based on the positive-displacement Eaton M90 supercharger for *instant* throttle response & big torque gains even at low rpms, exactly what these heavy trucks & SUV's need!
The 2-program Superchip Flip Chip is set up with an appropriate combination of custom programs for how you use *your* vehicle. This is generally our famous "Street & Strip" program combination, but can be set up any way you like if you have specific needs, such as towing, etc., as this package includes any custom tuning needed at time of purchase.
Complete set (8) of 36# high-performance fuel injectors, so you don't have to use an FMU & can run at stock fuel rail pressures for best throttle response, power & performance.
80 mm Granatelli MAF (mass airflow meter).
75 mm Edelbrock/BBK Throttle Body.
The Air Force One Intake System.
JBA Headers *with* Jet-Hot ceramic thermal barrier coating.
Magnaflow High-Performance Catalytic Converters (CARB approved, of course!)
Complete Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust System.

This package will optimize your powertrain programming for the use of premium gasoline (91 thru 94 octane, the more the better!), giving you a pair of performance programs. In our normal configuration, the program on Side 1 of your Flip Chip is conservative to protect the supercharged engine against things like a bad tank of gas, or for anytime you don't want the driver to have full maximum performance (we can also do a Towing-capable program on Side 1 if you like!). On Side 2, the engine is tuned for maximum power, taking full advantage of all our custom tuning capabilities for maximum performance. The performance tuning will unlock significant additional horsepower and torque gains at any throttle position and at any rpm, as well as properly tune the powertrain for the supercharger & other modifications in this package. It will also remove the top speed limiter. Switching programs is accomplished simply, via the included 2-position toggle switch.
The Air Force One intake is a beautiful show quality aircraft grade T304 S/S intake system that is mirror-polished by hand, & the Magnaflow cat-back exhaust is all aircraft-grade T304 stainless as well, with both the muffler and the beautiful 4" tip also being highly polished. Exhaust has strong, muscular V8 sound, but is not overly LOUD & will not "drone" inside the cabin. Overall sound level with this package is slightly louder than stock at idle & when cruising, yet sounds wonderfully aggressive when you nail the throttle!
Our PPI Dual 16" Electric Fan Kit features twin 16" electric fans with very powerful & rugged 235-watt motors, fully enclosed fan blades with the most efficient airfoil (reverse-S shaped) and dual independent controllers, 1 for each fan, for complete redundant capabilities. This kit can be used with *any* temperature of thermostat, and you do not need to change from the factory thermostat. Configured for a staggered turn-on arrangement like the high end systems found on Mercedes, Corvettes, etc., we also activate one of the fans automatically any time the A/C is turned on. This kit has been tested in 117 degree temperatures out in the desert Southwest, & has significantly better cooling capacity than the stock factory single mechanical fan, while freeing up horsepower and torque, and improving fuel mileage.
We also include a Transgo Shift Kit and our Troyer Performance Active Tranny Cooler to give your transmission the ability to flow more fluid *volume* and to keep the transmission temperatures under control during any kind of use, from stop & go city traffic on the hottest Summer day to towing beyond-capacity loads to drag racing, etc., we've left nothing to chance in this package!
This package adds approximately 175-190 HP & 160+ lbs./ft. of torque, with some seeing even higher gains. Power gains are approximate, and will vary a bit based on all the normal factors, I.E., local fuel quality, altitude, overall vehicle condition, dyno & dyno operator variances, etc. Though it cannot be absolutely guaranteed, many vehicles also see nice mpg gains from the Stage 5 package even with the supercharger! This occurs primarily under "normal" driving conditions when heavy throttle is not being used, especially when cruising. Typical gains run anywhere from 1.5-2.5 more mpg.

i know people will say you should just buy a L....but i kind of like the idea of it myself. i say if you have the money and you would like to do it then go ahead!! let us know how it turns out too....pics, times, ect.

If I had the cash, I would own a L for the summer, and use my truck in the winter, but since I'm not in that position, the stage 5 package will allow me to have somewhat the best of both worlds.
I don't really know what kind of times to expect with this package, is high 13's, low 14's asking too much?
If 13's are possible, then that's enough to give me the adrenaline rush I'm looking for in a 4x4.
I'm hoping Gator or Neal will take a peak at this thread as I'm sure they will have a good idea as to what to expect.
