Bubba the dog

Today is a sad one. I had to put down our 7 month old red bone pup due to hip dysplacia. It was very severe and had to be done today. I will miss him. I know he is only a dog but he was my friend also and getting to be one mean *** hunter. So a suggestion from me to all of you is please adopt from the spca and let the pure breeds alone its not worth the heart break. My wife is behind me on the chair crying like it was one of her own babies and its truly a sad day for us both. I called the breader and he says he is sorry and that he has 15 more pups with the same problems. I think i am more mad then sad right now. Sorry for the long post i just had to vent...

Sorry for your loss bro.
You don't have to say "he was only a dog" because those of us who own dogs know better.
Your sad because you loved him, and losing something you love is difficult, be it a dog or a person, it still hurts.

Shame he had to go at such an early age.

I understand what your going through. My brother's dog was a chiwawa (sp?). His name was cheeko. You know, the taco bell dog? Well anyways, My brother had just moved into a new house. He got up out of bed the next morning to go to work, and ran over the poor thing in the driveway. He said he thought the dog was in the house. But Cheeko must have ran outside when he opened the front door. I miss that dog.

Sorry to hear.

We had a 3 year old Sheltie that developed jaw cancer. We thought he got into an ant mound or something causing his front lip to swell. Took him to the ER vet thinking a shot or two and a recoup plan, but ended up putting him down instead.

Two of the three we have now are getting up there in age. I don't think the oldest (11) is gonna be around a whole lot longer. Not looking forward to that day. The dogs are like kids to my wife also.

Sorry for your loss, they're not called "Man's Best Friend" for nothing (my wife would like to argue that statement). They are just like family. I know it's painful, my dog's name is Bubba and we all love him just like a kid.

That's terrible! I know how you feel. I had to put one down a couple years ago. I still miss him, and cry when I think about it.
Think of him running around painless in doggy heaven, probably providing companionship to someone else who would have loved to have a dog here, and didn't get the chance.

and shame on that breeder! 15 more with problems? I'd say they don't deserve to have a dog, let alone breed or sell them.

That sucks bad... I'm sorry for your loss.

I was thinking last night while my oldest Basset was snuggled next to me that she is getting up there in age and very white in the face...Hopefully she'll have several more years that are good but I'm not + how old she is...she was supposed to be about 3.5 yrs when we got her from the pound but like I say she has really aged a lot from the looks anyway in the last couple of years..

Again sorry for your loss

Stan

I am sorry to hear about your loss. It is hard to loose any pet be it a dog or cat.

I have heard that many times before about pure breeds having more problems then mixed breeds, anyway it is a hard thing to deal with...

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost many pets in my lifetime. It mostly began with hamsters when I was a child. My mom knew that when I came running upstairs crying, she knew that we had lost another one, and to get out an old empty shoe box because we were gonna bury it in the backyard.

I always get my pets from either a farm or a shelter. My two dogs (Border Collie and Australian Shepherd) came from farms. The last time I was at the vet, I was looking at the AKC chart of dogs and was curious as to why Border Collies aren't on there. My vet said that Border Collies are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, which is probably why they're such good, even tempered family dogs. It's because they haven't been in-bred to death. Borders will probably never be included on the list.

In the meantime, they're cross-breeding so many different dogs, that mutts are probably gonna be accepted as a breed soon.

Again, sorry for you loss, it's like losing your best friend.

I feel for you. I have 3 and know that one day it will happen.

Its never easy. They represent the friend that wants nothing. They don't care if its a Ford or a SHovy, as long as they can go for the ride and drool down the side of the window.

Its tough, 7 months or 7 years, hurts either way.

On that note, your breeder sold you an animal with health problems. I do think he owes you a new pup.

Especially at 7 months. Most breeders I know of have 1 year health warranties.
