Question X plan and A plan...

Can someone explain to me basically these X plans and A plans I hear of now and then. I know one of them or maybe both are if your family of someone that works for Ford, is that correct?

What if you been buying and/or leasing Fords for over 10 years, not related to anyone at Ford, are you eligible for any plan other then Plan B?

"A" plan = family member, gets u around $2K under invoice - so I've found out.

"X" plan - I used - paid right about invoice with no haggle whatsoever. My company leases manyyyy FORDs, so employees get a no haggle price.

My opinion? "X" plan is Bullsh@t depending where u live. Many people barter the same price. On my recent purchase they swore they never sell that close to invoice, I think they were full of SH@t.

But with the "X" plan and rebates such as SCREW, MILITARY, FORD LOYALTY - I still paid almolst 10K under MSRP so I'm satisfied.

The dealer's make their money one way or another, whether it's the "A" "X" plan or not, don't let anyone fool ya.....

I got the X paln for my nephew about 3 years ago and he saved somewhere between 12-$1500 on a '00 or '01 Scab 4x4 over the best deal he could find on his own.

On my '01 Scab Sport I was eligible for the A Plan and got about $5,000 off of list.

A Plan has to be a family member like brother/sister/mother/father/son/daughter/wife/husband/grandparents.

X Plan for friends/neighbors and more distant relatives.

Half brother/sister and cousins I forget. They do change the rules every now and then.

I have access to X-Plan (which is $400 over invoice) and have yet to use it. Even on my new truck I beat it by $600 after all was said and done. It's good to know the figure though to have a real baseline.

On my last truck, I got a 'one at this price' truck and beat the X-Plan by a few thousand!

I've heard A-Plan is just a tad under invoice. Not positive though.

I dont know if you already know this, but the more goodies the vehicle has on it, the more you can save. So buying a top of the line vehicle can be a better deal than what you can get on a base model. There's just more room to bargain in the higher line vehicle. ....if you want all the stuff, dont be affraid to go for it.

BTW, if you're interested in a particular vehicle, let me know the VIN and I will let you know what the X-Plan price is so you can go make the deal informed.

I'm not sure anyone knows precisely what A and X plan are. My cousin, who works for Ford Corporate tells me A is for immediate family and is about 4% below dealer invoice. He got me X which he claims is 2% below dealer invoice. I told him what vehicle I wanted and he told me about how much I should pay for it. Then he told me to go to the Fleet Sales and Leasing Dept. of any Ford Dealer I wished to buy it from and tell them I was X plan and had a PIN number. About 15 minutes later we had an order form and price established. I went back in 3 weeks or so and the truck arrived at the stated price. I don't have the sticker and paperwork in front of me, but it seemed the list was 35k and change and the total cost after tax, tag, etc. was 29k for an 02 Lariat FX4, sliding rear window, 6CD changer, bedliner, and Towing package. Seemed like a good deal at the time, several other dealers quoted me anywhere from 800 to 1500 higher for the same vehicle before I got the X plan number.
My brother bought a similar vehicle (xlt) from the same dealer the year before without the X plan and paid about the same amount below list that I did.

The reason I get the X-plan is because my company does ALOT of business with Ford. But I think the X-plan might vary slightly according to the relationship your 'connection' has with Ford. i.e. maybe my company does more or less business with Ford than another company and gets a better/worse price based on that?? I know that when I request a price quote I have to put in my company code so there is some kinda connection there....

Bottom line is that the X-Plan CAN be beat.

I think that the A-Plan is golden, unless you get a 'one at this price' vehicle. But then you have to take whats offered...
