$900 sure sounds like a lot of money just to ship a car. Not even over seas.

Hrrm, not sure that the $100 would cover the gas.

Air Force cadet bought a 2002 KR SuperCrew. I'm impressed.

When I was in college, I could never afford anything that nice. The cost of owning something like that would have killed me.

Oh well. May as well get used to it. If he becomes a pilot, he'll retire from the Air Force and work for one of the big airlines and earn 6 figures a year.

Dennis,

When he was in grade school, my wife and I set up a tuition trust fund account for him here in Ohio. Over the years with the way tuition has gone up, so has the value of the fund. When he received the appointment to USAFA, my wife and I agreed that since we would not have tuition payments he could use the money for a vehicle and ongoing insurance payments when he was a C2C (junior). That time has arrived and he has his dream truck.

He's worked his tail off for this opportunity and we're very happy with the outcome. The service academies are pretty challenging. His eyesight will keep him from flying but he's hoping for a space and missile command position. He'll make a great Air Force officer.

And yes, the private sector might want his services after an AF career.
