Help please.
My computer is acting up. I figured it was time to run the Speed Disk program to defragment my hard drive. But, it says there is an error problem on drive C:, and it then forwards me to Norton Disc Doctor. Ok, Norton Disk Dr. start to run. But it says it is restarting due to disk write? It will not run this program to fix my problem. What could be happening? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Not a real expert, but it may be a bad cluster in the hard drive and/or some configuration files are gone, maybe deleted by a virus.
It sounds like your able to actually run your computer so if you don’t have an up to date virus program I would buy one and run it and see what happens. Good luck.

Doesn't really sound 'viral' to me. I'd run a system defrag and also a disc clean up.... if those don't work, lay hands on it and say 'DEMONS BE GONE!!'
That typically works on mine... *shrugs*

Wait a few seconds. A lot of programs might be running in the background and could still be saving stuff to your pc. Go to run and type MSCONFIG so you can see the stuff on your system. I would start the disk doctor and wait a few minutes to see if the progs stop saving.
It's been a long time since I use Windows, but if it asks to run Norton's, are you running it from the C: drive? You may want to boot from the CD and let it have free run of the boot sector and the C: drive to do repairs.
Told you I wasn't an expert...
But my last PC DIED, unlike yours I could NOT get to windows. I tried running Disk Doctor from DOS and it was a no go. Kept telling me there was an error. I would YELL at it and say "I KNOW THERE IS A FREAKING ERROR, YOUR THE DOCTOR FIX IT. It was like 6 - 7 years old, so sitting in the closet and bought this one last December for me and my daughter's XMAS present.

And no, I'm not the 60 second guru. I would already have killed that rule if I had more priveledges... LOL!

I was laughing at the 60 sec guru comment. I don't blame you for not wanting to go over to the Lightning forum. Its a regular romper room with all the kids, speaking of, I've seen ole keyhole poking around there
