Sand blaster, what meida for steel rims?
I picked up a sand blaster cabinet in Saturday to clean up some rims on an antique JD wagon. They were all out of black matic, so I took a bucket of steel grit. It looked like enough material, but the bucket is only half full.
I'd like another bucket. Can I mix it with black magic? Is the black magic that much better than steel grit? Can I get this stuff any cheeper then $25 a half bucket?

If the rims are rusted use the black media.
If they are chrome and you want to leave them bare steel then use glass beads. Glass beads will leave a smoother and less porous finish If you just want to chrome them over or have them repainted.
If they are not rusted and you only want to rermove the paint you can use a course plastic media.
Good luck.

These are steel wheels on a horse drawn wagon from about the 1920. It looks like someone cut down the steel spokes and welded a 13" rim around the hub so they could mound rubber tires and run it on the road.
We are talking some serious rust and pitting. I'll also use it to clean up the rest of the steel wagon. I can't get too agressive.
