Shut up & tip well, or enjoy your pubic-hair seafood pasta... Your EATING the things these people are serving, so if its food based, restaurants, pizza delivery, dairy queen, chinese take-out...ALWAYS tip well...of you'll be getting more than you ordered...& it WONT be a free bag of cheese sticks....

I also tip 50% to the girl that cuts my hair. This is your head people...hair grows back...but VERY SLOWLY...
As a Professional Chef, Graduate of the CIA, in the business for over 15 years and worked in two of the top 5 restaraunts in the country I can say this only happens in crap holes filled with un professional morons who have to stoop to that level due to the fact they cant actually serve well or are just to lazy to. Dont give the food industry a bad rap because someone didnt leave you a nickle.

I just remembered a good story regarding a tip, thought I would share it.

Many of the big hotels offer a "late night menu" for room service.
Only selected menu items are available from 11pm -11am.

During my stay at the Abu Dhabi Hilton one time, I had a craving for spaghetti Bolognese at 3am. Since this wasn't offered on the late night menu, I was out of luck (or so I thought)

To my surprise, the chef said he would make it for me.
After I finished eating, I called room service, and asked them to send the chef to my room so I could talk to him.

After a few minutes, he showed up, and I thanked him for a wonderful meal, and tipped him $50 US.
Needless to say, my meals for the remainder of the week were beyond spectacular!

There ya go Swafford...EVEN AT THE BEST places... Boy, Schoolbus sure pooped in your Culinary Arts Degree totin' hat....

Katy(RDY2RACWITH)...no worries sweetie pie... I dont sling liquor anymore...besides..cooking, waiting & bartending are for the high-school and college crowd.. Your supposed to move on to BIGGER & BETTER things after that... some just settle in to the fryer life I guess.. They all wanna be Woolfgang Puck (who has probably spit in his fair share of entrees), but most take their degrees & end up burnin' steaks at the local Hilton Hotel........"Would you like an apple pie wit dat?"

Amazing, never not once have I seen anything the likes of Spitting in food, hair left in food intentionally, or the tampering of food or drink in 15 years. And the day I do is the day I will go to jail for assault on a waitron because that person will get an A$$ kicking of biblical proportions for screwing with my craft and lively hood. Am I saying it does not happen, no. But then again I dont have a golden arch on my shirt.

Eat happy, tip when its appropriate but if the monkey with the tray acts as if its a hassle to swing down from its tree to refill your Dr Pepper than tranqulize it with a stiff and leave a little note on the reciept that there are plenty of other chimpanzees out there that can do the job.

swofford, i was not trying to dismiss your post, by just saying that the service industry prolly gets no respect from people

and i think i should have stated that the people i am talking about arent around food, but are in the hotel part of the equasion(sp?)

sorry if that upset you

Like I said if the food and service are good they get a tip, if not they get 3 cents so they know they are complete morons who should be at home watching Oprah.

If I ever found out someone *****ed with my food they would be DEAD period. Does it happen, I am sure it does at the sleazzy places or crap holes but I never go to them places anyway because chances are much higher you'll eat a roach in your meal then some *** wipe spitting in it.

Just eat fast food, it can't really be screwed with. I mean how can it be if you **** someone off, it has already sat there for at least 30 minutes, then they nuke it which kills all germs...

I've done work in resturaunts. The fast food and some fancier ones. We do a lot of work for McD's. I won't eat there if I can help it. They offer free food and I decline. Many of the fancier resturaunts that I've worked in are only fancy on the outside. The kitchens can be pretty bad. I have also worked in resturaunts that seemed like they had it together. I think it all depends on the employees. In a lot of the places (especially McD's) there are people who just don't care about you.

Don't assume that the people preparing your food care about wether your happy or not. Don't assume that chain resturaunts (like McD's) are all the same. Some are run better than others. Don't assume that your food hasn't been tampered with in some way or another. Just don't think about it!

I will tip at least 20% if I have a good experiance. I will tip less if it's not so good. If it's bad I will leave nothing, and won't return. At the bar I tip a buck a beer. That way they remember me an are there with a refill when I need one. Their there with a refill even if I don't need it!

I don't have someone cut my hair and I'm too poor (maybe it's from the buck a beer ) Hire many other services. I do get some customers that will hand me a 20 spot after working in their house. That's always nice (but not at all necessary).
