I saw a sportbike one day where the guy had a little girl on the bike with no helmet. And her got on the interstate where he went about 65-70mph. I was just hoping a policeman was around. But he got off at the next exit right down the road. There is no way that I would let a young child on a motorcycle, expecially without a helmet. Besides, wouldn't that be illegal, for a child to ride on a motorcycle with no helmet?

Yup...in Texas it is

But when you get to a certain age.....you don't have to wear a helmet. I always did. I have had rocks almost knock me off my yzf yammerha they hit my helmet so hard....cars, trucks..spin out all kinds of crap that flies up. Just imagine if I had not been wearing a helmet. That guy is an idiot. He should not be allowed to procreate. Poor kid doesn't have a clue. If you ride a bike...wear a helmet. You are only cool if your brains are inside your head.

Well put savage. Hard to believe that someone would put their child at risk like that.

Let me say that yes anyone that would take a kid on a bike without a helmet is just plain stupid.

With that said if you want to ride without one yourself and have medical and life ins to cover the loss of income when you are laid up in the hospital, at best, then go for it. It's your life

Man, in CA. that guy would go to jail and they would take the kid into protective custody!

Regardless of our helmet law, I alllllways wear a helmet although I dont agree with the helmet law for adults. ... heck, that would soon clear out all the squid

I really dislike govt. control, but damn it, how can you blame them with idiots like that guy

Helmets should be made mandatory. If seat belts are the law I do not understand why they left out helmets, makes no sense to me because bike riders are at a much higher risk for death then someone in a car/truck.

I'm a bike owner/rider and have been for 8 or so years now, so I have some perspective on the helmet issue. I personally always wear a helmet. It's just a smart thing to do. But, I'd agree with your position on allowing a rider to make the decision not to wear a helmet, so long as the rider is required to carry a minimum of $500K worth of health insurance. Don't care if the rider has any life insurance to take care of their family, but I don't feel that I (or others) should have to cover shortages in their health care coverage when they try and ride under something big.

Easy there Gator, your hitting a little close to home! Some of us don't own/ride Harleys either. Personally, I chose to ride a jap chit bike because I like riding the thing a whole lot better than I like wrenching on it! That comment should sure put the Harley rider's panties in a wad!

In Texas they enacted a helmet law but changed it a few years back. first it was mandatory then it said you had to have med. ins. that would cover a certain amount...I have a bike ..'82 Low Rider comemerative issue...and I call it as I see it as to helmet use..around the block..nope ..up on the interstate or the dreaded tollway...you bet..kids on a bike ..always...but then let me tell you about the night a Bat and myself met on a oklahoma highway one night on the way back from Sturgis...no helmet,7 stiches..I still have that photographic image of that Bat in my headlight beam and at 70 MPH...lucky to alive

I liked wrenching on my stroker drag bike
Guess you haven't heard on the new Harleys.........Yep, those jap chit--hehe-- products made Harley get its *** in gear and build a better product.

As for sport bikes, you can't beat the jap stuff. But Iam to old for that stuff anyway, just happy putting down the road killing a few bugs.

Ride safe
