New Proof that I'm not Crazy!!
Captainoblivious:
I think your misunderstanding me, or better yet I wasn’t real clear on it. No I don’t think anyone should be able to “constantly” monitor anyone. I was referring to the fact if someone was in an accident and then information was downloading from this black box.
Here is my stand as far as any monitoring. There should be NONE what so ever unless there is some court ordered reason for it. I mean court ordered as in a state or federal official was doing some kind of surveillance, which they can do anyway. They would have to have the same type of warrant as they would do for any type of thing like that. As in if they suspected criminal activity etc.

just a quick question, why should i pay more for ins. because i speed. i am a habitual speeder, i don't hide it, and really don't care if you like it.
but why should i pay more for ins then others. in 20 years of driving i have never made a single ins. claim and yet you think my rates should go up. so yours can stay low, have you ever made a claim, at all. vandalism, hit and run, the wife hit the pole but i'll say somone got me in a parking lot. those all count.

It does not matter that you have been LUCKY and not had an accident. I can tell you this it does NOT matter how great of a driver you may think you are, your not, not on a public road and that is a fact. I have raced for many years and have told people who think they are great at handling their cars on the road why do you think they have safety precautions at a racetrack? Because even in a “controlled environment” safety is NOT guaranteed. On the public roads it is ABSOLUTELY not guaranteed and you or anyone else that likes to race can argue all day about it but the fact remains you are NOT in control of your environment, so yes if you’re a habitual speeder they need to jack your rates higher much more so then a truck payment, because the odds are against you and you will one day cause great pain not just to yourself and your family but someone else’s family.
As far as making claims, yes I have two claims in the 15 years I have been with my insurance company. They did NOT count against me. They where both for the truck I have now. The first one was when the wind blew the door into a cement curbing type thing causing a small dent in the bottom of the door. That was $200 out of my pocket. The second time when some moron decided to key the whole back end of my truck causing $1200.00 in damage, another $200.00 out of my pocket. My rates just went down again last month.
lots of ifs and coulds there.FACT is, and i got this from an ins. person. they raise rates of speeders to offset costs of those who are inattentive or just bad drivers. if they had to pay the actual costs of their wrecks they wouldn't be able to drive. sounds good to me.
as far as luck, 20 years of luck seems more like skill and attentive driving to me. as far as racing yep i've been there too, (had a blast doing it)not on a regular basis and probably not as much as you.
also drove on german autobahn for 2 years, that was great.
do i think i'm a good driver, very. but i don't eat, drink, or talk on phones while driving either.

You got to drive on the German autobahn, now I am jealous, seriously. That would be awesome to do. Most of that if I understand correctly, still has no speed limit, is that correct?
I am sure you are a very skillful driver and attentive. I am as well, and like you I don’t eat or talk on the phone when driving. I do at times have a soda with me on a long trip, so as far as “legal” drinking I have done that at times.
So you have raced before as well, cool. So you know what I mean then. You or I could be skilled and attentive drivers but it only takes one moron to do something stupid and all the skill in the world will not prevent an accident. You most likely know as well as I do that even on the track sometimes it is hard to tell what the other driver is going to do, but at least on the track we have a good assumption and worst case scenario we are not going to get hurt to bad with a 5-point safety restraint and roll cage.
Maybe this example will help with what I am trying to get across. If someone gets pulled over for DWI or DUI even though they have not caused an accident or every claimed anything on their insurance, would you not agree their insurance should be jacked way up, if they receive a ticket for it? My answer would be yes, big time fines, and big time insurance rates.

A half dozen 114mph trips in 11/12 seconds.......
.......they would pull the box, thinking somethings wrong

yep the autobahn was limitless, very wild to think your really cruisin there only to have an older guy in a long mercedes pass you like your not even moving. awesome fun.
yes i know what you mean about the actions of others out there, never trust the other guy.
last night going home on my bike i had a guy run a red light then turn right in front of me and then lock up his brakes. worst part is had i hit him it would have been my fault. stopped only inches from tagging him. i hate the morons driving here.
to answer your example. i think they should lose their license, get a fine, go to jail etc. i do not agree to higher insurance and the reason is this. i do not believe that a states legal system should be used in order to make a private organization even wealthier then it already has. insurance is used to pay for damages caused in wrecks. if you've never used it, then you've costed them no money. yes the odds are greater that you will given certain circumstances, but you still haven't. them raising your rates for a ticket without a claim is like charging large people more for all you can eat buffet just because you think they'll eat more then the llittle guy. who knows they might be on a diet.
