Chainsaw question

I know this is very off topic but I got an old stihl the other day and it wont start. i dont know much about two stroke so here goes. It is not locked up, it pulls free. I think what the problem is when you pull the plug that cavity is full of fuel, and i meen like alot. So what it is ?

thanks

Sounds like the carb is gummed up. Take it apart and spray it out good with carb cleaner. Put a new spark plug in it too. I've had that problem m ore than once with a bad plug. When you say you take the plug out and the cavity is full of fuel, do you mean the combustion chamber? Well if that's what your talking about, I've always turned the saw upside down with the plug out and dry crank it until all the gas is pumped out. Try that and see if it works. On chainsaws, the magneto or coil as it's called, may have went bad thus causing no spark to the plug. To check this, pull the spark plug and leave the boot attached to it. And then crank it a few times in a dark garage or something to see if you see a spark. If not, your coil has problably went bad. Hope I helped.

Good advice so far... just be sure to change the plug again.
My Stihl eats them like crazy. It's still a helluva saw though.

Get you one of those "lightweight McCullough's" then go by Jerry Clowers album and you will be delighted in the fun you can have with that little baby.
