Cool Wife!!!

Ok guys, if this year's coolest wife has not yet been chosen, I want to nominate mine for the award. She suprised me on Easter with a 1974 Porsche 914, similar to the one I drove back in High School (I had a '75 914 back in '87-88). My wife got a friend of mine to help her find this car in Atlanta (we live in Birmingham) and they got my dad to trailer it back here. They hid it for a few days and then drove it up to an Easter Egg hunt my daughter was doing with a huge red bow on it. How cool is that ?

It's not a basket case but close. Needs lots of TLC, body work, paint, gaskets and seals, brakes, et al. The only rust is on the surface and mechanically its pretty good. The interior is in good shape for a 30 year old car. Should be a great project for the next couple of years.

Anyway, props to my wife! She Rules!

I wonder if they got it from the Porsche shop in Marietta. They run a large on line parts business out of that location. I don't know the name, but when I picked up my Father in-law after he droped his 944 off for repair they had about 30 914's ... He has some old Bugs, a couple of 356s and some other rare models of Porsche ...

Enjoy the ride ...

Your wife got any sisters? Sounds like you hit paydirt with her. Good luck with your new project.

Thumbs up

Congrats on the new toy.

My wife is cool too. She doesn't bitch about anything especially my cars.
If I say "Honey, I really need those forged pistons for the Fury" she says, "Ok, whatever you think".
She even cleaned the Leather and the mats on the 150 when it arrived last week.
Technically, that's my 3rd car and I don't really need it, I just wanted it.
Married 20 years this September. Great girl

Congrats on the car. It must be something about guys named Mike. My wife gave me a 66' Mustang GT Fastback for Christmas 2 years ago. she had to hide it for 2 months and on Christmas, had a friend park it in our driveway with a bow wrapped around it.

Its a great feeling and your going to keep that car forever.

And I thought my wife was cool when she bought me a gun I had been wanting for my b-day last year!

Let us know how cool she stays when you start fixing it up - hmmm ... maybe she got you the car to get you out the house...

Hey Screwfun, yeah, she got it through Automobile Atlanta. She did not buy it directly from them but they put her in touch with someone that had it. The car had been sitting in storage for 8 years. She had the mechanics at Automobile Atlanta get it running for her before she brought it to Birmingham but it still needs an overwhelming amount of attention.

I'll try to post some before pics for everyone shortly. It may be a couple of years before those "after" pics are available.

NaviGirl- yeah, she will help out a little but she is 8 months pregnate right now so she will be a little busy for a while. BTW, she is a Heather, also, so you know she is cool!
