Screw vs. Z71
Screw vs. Z71
His Truck: 99 Cheby Z71 extra cab, automatic, 5.3l, 3.73 LS gears, Gibson cat back, Airraid filter in factory housing, Superchip programmer, 305/70/16 Nitto Terra-Grappler's, Monroe Reflex shocks, about 80,000 miles. (I know this stuff because I work on this truck quite a bit)
My Truck: '01 Screw 4x4, automatic, 5.4l, 3.55 LS gears, Gibson cat back, K&N filter in factory housing, 265/75/16 POS tires, Rancho RSX shocks, 37,000 miles.
From the light, my truck got the hole shot out to about 1/2 a length, we stayed that way for the distance. I'm impressed with my truck. It's heavier, has higher gears, factory rated at less horsepower, and has fewer mods, and it stayed in the race!

Although Chevys usually have a higher HP rating for a comparably sized engine, they usually have lower torque #'s. You jumped out with the lead from the hole with the extra torque. Also, most factory chevys may have higher HP, but the dyno pulls i've seen show a larger percentage of power losses through the tranny and/or rear differential. In short, nice kill !
Notice though that he is turning 305's with 3.73 gears which will give him a much higher gear ratio. Im not sure how much but most guys that run 305's will put in 4.10's to compensate and get back to approx 3.73.
Still...nice kill.
