Gator....... Might I offer an different idea. The heck with what the rest of the lesser countries out there think, lets give the troops in Iraq a little more work. Instead of busting holes in Alaska to tap oil reserves in this country, why not just send the troops to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait when they're done in Iraq. Shouldn't take but a couple weeks or so to secure them both. In my plan these countries become U.S. provinces (i.e. the U.S. runs the show). And as for the towelheads living there, they can go back to herding camels for all I care! In my estimation, following this plan would:
1) Cause oil prices to fall and stabilize.
2) End embargos forever.
3) Prevent a whole bunch of Arabs from migrating to the US.
4) Begin to square things with the Saudi's for Sept. 11.
5) Move the French totally out of the oil business.
6) Cause all internal combustion engines in France and Germany to go silent forever (Oh, did I forget to mention they get 'no' oil in the future).

Looks like a "win/win" situation to me!
