Going back to school as a mature student
Congrats. That is great. I tried going to school but just couldn't make it work for me...of course that was at the age of about 26 or so and everyone seemed young to me then.
You can do this and you can make it work for you if it is what you really want. I did take some classes some 2 years later that were more focused at a speciality school to learn more about computers and that worked well for me.
But again, I tip my hat to you. You can do it!.

I think it's great !!!
I turned 40 this year, and have been taking Masters level courses for a couple years now in the evening at the local university. My job doesn't aford me quite the extra time yours apparently does, and my two boys also eat into my 'extra' time as well. I will however finish my masters work, that's my goal. So far the kids in class have been more curious than anything else about me. Can't say I fit in perfectly with them, but I also don't feel like the odd-man-out either. Just to show you what you have to look forward to...... One of the professors asked a question in class the other night, and one of my fellow students (who's 21 I think, and apparently a budding comedian) suggested that he should defer to me for an answer, since the question related to 1980's economic policy and he was in pre-school at that time".
I think it's really great that you have the interest and are making it happen. I don't care what anyone else says, knowledge is power, and when you stop learning your intellect weakens.
Good luck, and I hope your educational experience is all you want it to be.
PS. What 'do' you do for a living?

I went back to school for a couple of years when i was 35 & 36 years old. Before that time I had not been in an academic classroom enviroment (having attended technical & trade related classes) since my teenage days. It was a lot of fun and after a while I got a kick out of the students aproaching me for a syllabus and exam schedules on the first day of classes assuming that I was the professor. Needless to say I made it a point to be nowhere near the desk on the first day of class.
You are probably at an advantage because of your age. At this time of your life you posess a wealth of knowledge and insight that can only come with experience. You will more than likely outgun your younger classmates. Beware that some professors younger than you may find you intimidating as well. Although I did'nt graduate I did mange to earn some credits and a 3.85 GPA all while still working between 10 & 16 hours a day. You may notice that some of the younger students do not have the dicipline or intesinal fortitude to stick to this kind of schedule.
I plan to go back soon as well and having already gotten my feet wet a couple of years ago I am not as intimidated but it will definetly cut into the time I usually spend coaching, doing home repairs, truck tinkering, etc.
Good luck and have fun. BTW, if you attend summer classes be sure to wear blinders. The amount of clothing a young girl wears to school is directly proportionate to the atmospheric conditions and temperatures !!

You won't regret it! I finally decided to go back (graduated in 1993) for my Masters. I am in my 3rd semester and loving it. You do have to get back in the mode of studying, but it comes back quickly.
I decide last year that since my son is still not in school, to get this done before he hits that time so I can be there for all his activities. My company pays a % of my tuition, so I am lucky to be able to attend Creighton here in Omaha.
Good luck to you and if you need any advice or such, let me know.

Go for it Habibi! I'm 33 and finished college just a couple of weeks ago. I actually graduate May 3. It was so different than when I went right out of high school. Back then, I went to Jr. College for one year and to Auburn University for two. When I left (was kicked out) of Auburn, I had a 1.6 cummulative GPA. When I finished a couple of weeks ago, my GPA for the last two years was a 3.933. Quite a difference!! I learned more, understood what I was learning more, and really enjoyed myself.
OK, there were a few cuties there, too. Something had to make all those classes bearable
It took a little while to get my brain unfogged and back into studying mode. The funny thing is that having this degree makes no difference in my professional life. I am a partner in a small firm and the money is good so I have no interest in looking for another job or anything. I guess I just did it for me!
Good Luck!!!
