Im not a country music fan, However I was overjoyed when the local country music stations got together and used a steam roller to smash all the Dixie Chicks CD's they had at the stations. Many others turned out to throw in there own copies of the "DC" cd. All of this was broadcast on the local news of the major networks last night.

message from my local station 93.1 the Bull
Actually I call them "full of bull"
they sent me this email after I had some correspondence with one of the producers.
If it is in fact true that the other members disagree with Natilie, then they should remove her from the band.
Also, Peter Jennings is a moron.

Dear Listener,
98-1, The Bull regrets the comments made in reference to President Bush by the Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines.
Her latest press release includes: “As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect”.
Even after her apology, we have received some calls and emails from listeners wanting their music taken off the radio.
But please understand, in AMERICA, we cannot nor do we feel we have the right to censor any artist because we disagree with what they have said or what their political views may be.
As proud Americans …. We totally disagree with what Natalie said … but please note that other members of the Dixie Chicks disagree with what Natalie said too.
Last Monday Charlie Robison, husband of Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks, was live on WBUL.
He said ‘That neither he nor his wife agree with what Natalie said.”
So do we punish them all?
Remember Peter Jennings censoring and removing Toby Keith’s COURTESY OF THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE from the July 4th tv special even after he had been invited to perform? That made a lot of us very mad! So, if WE remove the Dixie Chicks from the air … wouldn’t we be guilty of the same thing?
Also please note, that only the ‘writers’ and ‘publishers’ of a song make any money when their music is played on the radio.
UNLESS THE ARTIST WROTE THE SONG, THEY DON’T MAKE ONE RED CENT.
The artist gets paid through cd sales and through concert ticket sales.
And as of now, I haven’t seen Natalie’s name on the writing credits for any hit song by the Dixie Chicks that has been played on the radio.
So if we pull their music off the air, the only people we are hurting are people who had nothing to do with what Natalie said. Is that the right thing to do?
If you feel need to ‘hit them where it hurts’ … then boycott buying their cds and concert tickets.
Here in America … you have the freedom and the right to do that.
Moving forward: It is now that we need to focus our attention on what really matters … Our servicemen and women who may be giving their lives in the fight for freedom!
And even though we don’t agree with what Natalie said …. Our servicemen and women will be fighting to protect her right of free speech.
Thanks again for listening … thanks again by voicing your opinion.
God Bless America ,

I do not listen to country music....but I know very well what it is, and the Dixie Chicks do not perform country music. They perform soft rock/pop music. They are "hollywood" just like all the other left-wing, bleeding heart liberals. Natalie Maines should be forced to live in France. She would be happier there.
