I read about half way through this crap and couldn't take any more of the stupidity. So many people and governments in the world SAY that we should mind our own business and stay out of theirs. Fine, that's what we did in the first two world wars. Until we were dragged into it by those who foolishly overreached themselves. Attack America and pay the consequences. Hitler and Tojo found out the hard way.

The same thing applies to Terrorism. Yes, Terrorism, with a capital 'T'. It has become an institution. A legitimate way of airing grievances the world wide. A way to influence those that do not agree with your views. The United States has stood back and allowed others to suffer under the hand of the little guy, with limited resources and mountainous resolve, for much too long. What else could we do? Our help wasn't required or requested. The few times that Americans were the victims of Terrorism over the past few decades, it has been on foreign soil and we were forced, by our own morals, to take a back-seat to the other governments involved. No more I say! We've allowed this to go on too damned long already. If the rest of the world is willing to live with Terrorism. If they are willing to accept the attacks on their people from angry extremists that, over the years, have gradually acquired the backing of nations, and the assets that go along with that backing, that is their decision to make. FOR THEMSELVES!!!!! Not for us.

Once again evil, for the lack of a better word, has made the mistake of biting off more than it can chew. The world currently has the opportunity to jump on the train and be there for the party. The *** whoopin' party! If they choose not to, they can just follow the tracks and reap the rewards of our sacrifice once again. Make no mistake, while we truly want to help the rest of the world with this problem, it is no longer just the other guys problem. Now we've been dragged in once again. However, now the problem has become so large there is no easy way to deal with it. It's an out of control cancer that will involve an ugly fight to get rid of. Iraq may not be the end of it. This will be over when Terrorism is no longer an equitable way to conduct political business. We intend to make the cost much to high. We're Americans. When we have a problem that needs tending to, we don't sit around and wait for it to magically go away. We make it go away! The rest of the world may not like this about us; but, they seem to forget how we are from time to time. If you don't want us in your business, take care of it before it becomes our business. When it's time to play, we play hard. When it's time to work, we work even harder. Pass the hard hats, it's time to get dirty.

As I said WE, the USA, are WORLD LEADERS. Don't be jealous, the world needs followers too. I'd tell you to hop in line, but your already there.
Face it, we are the worlds strongest economy, (California is the worlds 4th strongest) you not only rely on us, you need us. Canada could NEVER stand/survive without us. It's OK to admit that we are friends.

Outstanding post!!!

Redneck Ferrari:

He know's the truth, but hates to admit it. You, I and many others know the FACTS, and that is without America there would be NO free counties, including Canada.

He had some facts wrong, but because of your post and mine he was able to learn the truth and facts so he is better educated, once again due to America.

We in America are so helpful, we even give the unwilling free education...

Yeah, too bad some of your school's can't do that. There is people in America that don't even know that Canada exists let alone America's own history. Canadian schools teach not only their own history but others as well.

To go off topic, if it wasn't for the U.S. Government sticking their noses in a long time ago. Canada may very well own the skies as the U.S. government decided that the Avro Arrow was too much competition for their own planes. So they force the Canadian government at the time to buy their planes instead of allowing Canada to build at the time, probably the best plane in the sky. This is just one thing that U.S. has done to Canada to make sure that they can stay on top. What have they done to other countries, you don't know and neither do I because it is all under wraps.

Did a little research on the Avro Arrow (I have never heard of it because I attended a school in the USA) and it sounds like you are telling us your opinion and not telling the whole truth. It was decided by the Canadian government to spend 2 million for each US built interceptor plane instead of spending 12 million to build each Avro Arrow. Does not sound like the US forced Canada to do anything ...

Here is one of the links I found...

Avro Arrow Trouble

Reading this link, shows me that your opinions of the US are shared by a few others. Just no facts to back up the babble.

Excellent post. I tell you if these people would just go back and get an education or do some research prior to posting they wouldn’t look so damn stupid. I hate to call someone stupid, but when it is appropriate then so be it.

Time and time again their delusional facts are completely crushed. If it isn’t name calling they revert to some fantasy about Lord knows what and come up with facts that only support they have a serious flaw in their educational system.

The last post about Avro Arrow just goes to show it you want something of the highest caliper, best design, most reliable and cost effective you turn to America where the know how is, always will be.

Why do you think these guys drive Ford’s?

Oh well, they will go away for a bit, lick their wounds and come back with some more delusional facts and again take an @ss whooping for not being properly prepared.

Oh, and to those of you with illusions my answer is still NO, no free tissues, only free education and @ss whooping…

Cool

The Avro Arrow, should the U.S. government had kept their nose out of our business, would have killed the U.S. planes with no problem. And we were even doing side projects for the states ... Avro Aircraft was also designing and producing "Secret" projects such as "Project Y", which was a "Flying Saucer" for the United States military.

Suddenly Feb. 20, 1959, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker stood in the house of commons and announced that the Arrow and Iroquois projects were canceled.
Avro Arrow History

Gee, we must have been doing some pretty bad work if the U.S. Military had to come to Canada to design secret projects. But then again, no one has explained "Area 51" and its revelence on this planet.

The CIA and the U2 spy plane

This is perhaps the most compelling of the speculations that surround the Arrow’s demise, and is well developed in Palmiro Campagna’s book "Storms of Controversy". It wasn’t well-known in the late 1950s that the CIA had already developed the U_2, a top-secret plane capable of flying at 70,000 feet, much higher than any plane besides the Arrow. The U-2 was billed as a weather plane but it was already overflying countries around the globe for surveillance and espionage purposes. The technology of the Arrow, were it to fall into the 'wrong' hands, could allow other aircraft to challenge the U-2. If another country acquired, bought or even captured an Arrow, they might have been able to uncover and match the American surveillance game.

Another interesting connection is that the head of the CIA, Allen Dulles, was the brother of John Foster Dulles, the U.S. Secretary of State who advised Defence Minister George Pearkes that the U.S. wouldn’t purchase the Arrow. Palmiro points out that the Secretary of State was privy to all the details concerning the Arrow, and knew full well that because of the antipathy towards the costly program within the Canadian government, the Arrow would collapse without U.S. sales. If it was contrary to U.S. interests for the Arrow to proceed, no ‘pressure’ was necessary to kill the program – the U.S. could simply balk at buying. Indeed, Campagna records that the USAF, perhaps signaled by the CIA, started to cool off just as the first flights were being flawlessly completed.

The SR-71 Blackbird, successor of the U-2. The Arrow was threatening to the U-2 in more ways than simply as an example of industrial excellence. As mentioned, sales of it could lead to the U-2’s secret mission being disclosed. (This did finally happen in 1960, when a U-2 was shot down over Russia). The Arrow program was also dominating the world’s supply of titanium, a metal in short supply in the late 50’s, and the U.S. was already planning the Blackbird series of high-altitude supersonic reconnaisance craft, which would require a lot of titanium. Plus there was the risk of the Soviets obtaining the secrets of the Arrow, through espionage or by downing one. All in all, there was little advantage to be gained by letting the Canadians develop a supersonic high-flying fighter.

Was the U.S. threaten ... damn right they were. But another interesting fact is that the U.S. was flying a U-2 over other countries??? It wasn't until the Avro Engineers actually used one of the U.S. Military wind tunnels did the U.S. government actually started to fear the Arrow. It was at this point in time that the U.S. started to stick their nose into the Arrow project. And quickly did the pressure become applied to make sure that the Arrow was never put into final production. Oh and another thing too, since the demise of the Avro Arrow. Alot of the engineers from the Arrow project migrated to NASA. Hell, maybe a Canadian was involved in the design and construction of the Space Shuttles.

You want move proof, you can look it up on the internet, rent the movie or read the books for yourself. I am done with my lesson, besides I don't have a teaching degree and don't really want to waste my time here. I have better things to do with my time.

Since this will be my last post as I only asked a simple question in the beginning and now I am being jumped all over because of that question. I asked for facts that the U.S. was directly involved with the Berlin wall coming down. Sorry but a speech don't cut it here and no one as proved otherwise. I hear speechs every freakin' day and there is alot of people in this world that don't listen to them either.

Oh, one last thing ... 01 XLT Sport, is your flareside truck a supercab as well. If it is, you may want to run the VIN number on your it. You might just find out that it was built in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. That would be ashame that you are not driving around a U.S. built vehicle. But hey, don't worry, we will let you keep it.

Actually my friend my truck is NOT a supercab, but it was built in Canada. I do not have any problem with that as I do NOT have any problem with Canada. I am sure there are many people in Canada that are just as intelligent or more intelligent then some Americans.

You keep screwing up and try to make this a Canada vs. America issue. It is not. I will say that just because my truck was “assembled” in Canada does not mean it is a Canadian truck. It was designed and developed, engineered right here in America. All Canada did was put the parts together. I must say, for at least my truck, the quality is superb.

Canada is a great country with an overwhelming amount of great people. With that said it does not mean there are some there that are not all that bright, as well as here in America. So get off this kick of yours about how Canada did this and did that.

So let me, for the last time, try to educate you on how America, on her own, was responsible for the wall coming down. First did America actually go there and tear it down? No, well there may have been some American’s taking part in the celebration but no official American representation went there to actually tear down the wall.

America is responsible for the wall coming down due to two things POWER, and MONEY. The cold war was basically a SPENDING war and POWER war. America out spent the Soviets and while outspending them for military weapons we built much better equipment. President Reagan was what finally broke the Soviets. President Reagan was in the process of building a 600 ship Navy as well as developing the “Star Wars” program of which basically dealt the Soviets the final death blow. They could not come to grips with the fact that IF the “Star Wars” program was successful they would be basically out of the game because they were just about out of money and headed towards economical disaster.

You see the Soviet’s spent a great deal of their GNP on their military, they did not have the type of economy as America did which allowed for a much greater cash flow. The Soviets military program was also greatly dependant on MONON Americans selling American secrets to the Soviets. If there had been a way to keep all secrets out of the Soviets hands the cold war would have been over decades before it actually ended under America’s greatest President ever in history President Ronald Reagan.

To wrap it up this is how America is directly responsible for the wall coming down and NO other country:

America has the greatest WEALTH
America has the greatest POWER
America has the most EDUCATED

That all equals the world’s ONLY SUPERPOWER…

IzzyEddy,
The nice thing is that you are proud to be Canadian and proud of your country. You just need to be realistic.
Seems to me that people are quick to jump on Americans that are proud of their country (called: Jealousy). Again - Not everyone can be leaders, the world needs followers too.

Your response leads to more questions and not answers

IE .. you stated "The Arrow program was also dominating the world’s supply of titanium, a metal in short supply in the late 50’s, and the U.S. was already planning the Blackbird series of high-altitude supersonic reconnaisance craft, which would require a lot of titanium."
Who controlled the world’s supply of Ti??? Could Canada afford to get into a bidding war with the US for Ti?

You said one reason the Arrow failed was that the US refused to purchase it ... Duh ... we had our own interceptors we could build for 2mill or buy yours for 12 mill... Does this make any sense to you?

Even the link you supplied states "For whatever reasons the "Avro Arrow" was killed, and we will never know why. " You are spouting these theories and expect us to accept them as fact.

Could it be the economics of the project did not make sense to your leaders?

I do not have time (nor desire) to research all of your statements, I can only suggest you try to think outside of the box when you read statements like these.

And to answer your question … we did not get the contract to remove the wall, so in your eyes we did not tear down the wall. We are the one’s that won the COLD WAR, which lead to the dismantling of the USSR, which lead to the re-unification of Germany and other nations.

I lied, and for that I am sorry. I said I was done but I am not. Please read the following. http://www.vana.ca/articles/natocanandnucleararms.pdf

Guys,
I can't believe how quickly this has degenerated into a Canada vs USA affair.
Who cares who ordered what plane or got educated.
These are not the real issues (although it has been kind of fun reading the ner ner ner nerner stuff) the war with Iraq is what started it off.
Yes, I believe America is right to go and slot Saddam. He deserves it for he is a truly evil man.
I believe that Britain is right to stand alongside our allies and do the same.
I also believe that ALL our other allies should be behind us too. That includes Canada, France, Germany and everybody else who has has the support of the USA in keeping them free since the end of WW2. That's what friends do. They back each other up.
However, if certain nations do not have the stomach for a fight, well that's great, don't get involved but don't critisise from the sidelines.
Remember, this conflict will be about getting rid of a tyrannt and we need to stand together on this.
We can be proud of our leaders (George Bush and Tony Blair) for having the guts to do it.
We can be proud of our countries and our heritage for we have always stood up to tyranny whatever the personal cost.
We do this not because we are warlike people who want to control the world but because our cause is just.
Because our Armed Forces are willing to put their ***** on the line, soon the people of Iraq will be free to vote for the candidate they choose.
That's a good thing people.
So, it starts soon. Good. Once Saddam is out of the way we can start to make some of the other rogue nations rethink as well.
