Chevy Bashing

Hey, I've got an idea. Let’s bash Chevy's and GM products to show our stupidity. When I see all the stuff about how people are so damn company oriented and have 0 points to make to as why their company is better, I almost feel embarrassed. It goes to show nothing. A guy in a ford saying a Chevy is a POS, and that is all he say's is they don’t last or are slow or some red neck excuse, its messed up. For all these people that do this, you give all people bad names. You show your childish attitude toward others. Personally, when you’re in the real world, if you drive a Chevy or a dodge or a Honda or a ford, it doesn't make a difference. So drop all the bashing stuff. It’s just uncalled for. I could care less if you like ford or Chevy, if you are morally sound, and treat all people with respect and represent what America is about, the vehicle you drive represents 0% of what you are.

Right on! I like a little brand wars as much as anyone else but there is a certain point where it goes too far.

But...can we still please bash Dodge into the ground? Can we huh huh huh?

Just kidding!

I agree. Let's all try and save this kinda bashing of brands for our closest friends and family that are confused and drive something other than Fords.

By the way, no signature with your posts? I enjoy reading your posts so much more while staring at that wonderful signature grahic.

Yeh, I installed a Hellwig rear swaybar a while back and then re-installed it again after I installed a set of 2" drop shackles. If you chose the Hellwig bar, installation is really pretty simple. The end link mounting brackets simply install into pre-existing holes in the frame (i.e. no drilling required) and the bar itself bolts (via U-bolts) to the rear axle. Only two things complicate the process. First, you have to 'very' gently bend the brake line running across the back of the rear axle to allow space for the U-bolts to pass under it. Not a bigdeal (haha), but it does require care be taken. The second issue involves the length of the front links. Hellwig provides two sets of links with the kit. If the rearend of your truck has not been lowered, the shorter set of links will work just fine. If you've lowered your truck (like I did), you'll need to do a temporary install of the swaybar and measure the distance between the bottom of the L-bracket mount (on the frame) to the top of the bar mounting eye while all the time keeping the bar level with the ground (or your springs). Once you have this measurement, you'll need to call Hellwig's Tech Support guy (800-367-5480) and request a set of links that match your measurement. Hellwig sent me a shorter set overnight delivery free of charge. Now that's what I call customer service! I think the Hellwig rear swaybar is the best mod for the $$$ that you can do to your truck.

I you have any additional questions, let me know.

Oh, thanks for that sig in your last post.

Phillip, I agree. Sometimes it is fun to joke with people about things like that, but too much and it starts getting out of hand. I have never really been a fan of Chevrolet products, but that doesn't mean that they are bad trucks. Since I started driving Ford's, I like what I have gotten, and I am sure that is how people that buy Chevys feel. Let me ask you this. If you make fun of people just because the drive a different brand of automobile does make you any better than them?

A truck is a truck. All of them have their good qualities and all of them have their bad qualities. Don't get me wrong, I love my Ford and never want to give it up, but I just don't see any reason to bash someone because they drive a competitors vehicle.

Yeah, some people think I'm confused... I think I'm automotively diverse...

Chevy at heart...
Ford in the garage...
MOPARs in the works...

Thank's BigDeal. Hopefully I'll get to install the rear in a few weeks. Front is here on Friday and I might just put it on that day.

Yeah, if you are going to argue about it to someone that you can't even see, at least be informed. Sheesh!

You make a vaild point PhillipSVT.

It always makes me laugh when people brand bash with no facts to back them up. I have a little story of Ford verse Chevy that I love to tell.

In 86 my father bought himself a new Chevy 1 ton dump, 4x4, with the 350. He then bought a new 95 Powerstroke F350, 4x4, dump to replace the Chevy. Heres the good and bad of the two:

Chevy:
GOOD
-always started and ran
-could stop on a dime
-no repairs ever except for the transmission
-everything always worked
BAD
-Blew 11 transmissions
-Completely gutless, the 350 couldn't move that much weight
-rusted quickly
-never ran smoothly, even new

Ford:
GOOD
-can haul/tow anything (had 7 ton of wet sand on once)
-no body rust
-no powertrain failures ever
-once running, is the ultimate powerhouse
BAD
-everything that is not major, breaks (lights, alt., starter, fuel pumps, rust fuel tanks, interior peices, hood, doors, water pump, eletrical probelms)
-starting is always a gamble
-can't stop (very bad brakes)

Well each truck served us well, but each had its own hassles. Which one was better? I don't know.

Like ive mentioned before, i drove a '00 chevy and a '99 dodge last summer. neither were as good as my Ford. however i do like GM products.
my moms '97 Transport has 105,000 miles on it and all we've done is tires, break pads, and a battery. Still going strong.
Ill take a Ford for a truck over any, but i would consider a GM for any other vehicle.
Just my two pennies.

I have a pack of AC DELCO spark plugs in my garage for Friday. My friend and I are going to tune-up a 90 chevy camaro (305). The car belongs to my friend's lovely girlfriend, so I don't mind having THIS chevy in my garage! They're both Chevy people.
