I doubt he's hurting for $ considering the speaking engagements, book deals, shoe contracts...etc... etc... etc...

its just a ploy to get some good press...i think he has totally lost it!!

 

Yeah, you gotta read carefully:

"He makes $250,000 in base pay, $150,000 in deferred annual income and $500,000 in guaranteed outside income through May 2006."

So in other words, even though he "gave" back his salary he still gets the other $650,000.

 

I go to TTU, so I say good. We ned the extra cash. I thik it shows he cares about the game and being a good coach more then the money. How many people you know that would give back $250,000. Between people having a lil more respect for me or having the $250,000. I'd take the money and be happy in my new sports car.

 

Not to mention a good tax deduction for next year, besides, I never seen him do this at IU during some of the subpar seasons he had there. The '84-'85 chair throwing season comes to mind. It's nothing but a bunch of media sucking BS!

my thoughts..tech is 16-10 and on the bubble for a tourney spot...i think bobby is doing this to get the committee and others talking about him which also means they are talking about tech...the announcment being made a week before selection sunday..coincidence... i think not

 

I can't beleive a college coach makes that much anyway, thats just crazy!

and whats even worse, thedamn president of the US doesn't even make what bobby knight is telling them to keep!

 

Preisdent of the US makes 400K a year went into effect on GWB's presidency. And Bobby Knight doesnt make as much as alot of coaches in the college ranks out there, TTU isnt a rich school he is there because the AD is his best bud and he wanted to prove he could still Coach. Lubbock is my home town.
