I think that the amount of time a person serves in prison should be based on the type of crime, and how many crimes the person has committed. If someone steal three golf clubs and it was their first crime, then I say maybe a few months in jail. Now if they are caught again, Then the sentence is a few years. And if they are caught again stealing then the rest of their life.
If the crime is one of the serious ones like murder, rape, or child abuse and all of the others like this, then it the minimum sentence should automatically be life in prison with
ABOLUTELY no chance of parole or getting out early on good behavior. They want to do something like this, then they should pay their full sentence. Because letting them out early on parole or good behavior is saying that they can go back and do it again and all they have to do is behave good and they will get let back out early again.
I agree with 01 XLT Sport that there is no such thing as prison overcrowding. "If they do the crime, then they do the time," no matter how many people are already there. Also don't separate the people who are petty theifs from the murders and rapists. If the petty thief sees what these murderers and rapist have to go through because of what they done, maybe they will not do it if they ever get out of prison.
I could go on and on about this subject, but that is enough for now.

I think instead of sending the "3 strikes" felons to jail, we should just put them in the chair and give them a little electro-shock therapy for a week on low voltage.
After a week, give them the full charge and then use their ashes to fill potholes
