I was under the impression that even the Middle Easterner that were friendly to Americans are now turning there backs on us due to the conflicts. Guess not , huh.

Shows you how the media is poisoning us.

Habibi - as stated before, be safe and come home soon.

Habibi

Any stores I walked in that sold gold jewelry by the piece I turned around and walked out. Most shops in the gold Souk sold it by the ounce no matter how intricate the engraving or workmanship. Is it still like that today? I bought several Mink blankets too, wife, aunt, and mother-in-law loved them and still use them after more than 12 years. I even had a birthstone necklace custom made for my daughter with 24K gold and a ruby in AD.

Haggling is indeed a sport and can save you a bunch of money, but it sure gets to be a hassle after a while.

In the market areas there were stands set up selling sandwiches of lamb and ham using a pita like bread. The meat was on a rotating vertical spindle and the guy would carve off slices for your sandwich. they were awesome but I can't remember the name of them. Do you know what I'm talking about, what do they call them?

Hope your having a great time!

As was said by 01 XLT, the French have a buyer for their military parts, so they don't want a war to "kill off" their buyer

Habibi,

No problem. i didn't know if you had access to that kind of news there. I know most good places have BBC & CNN . I figure forewarned is fore armed. The french have alot of issues, and even more skeletons in the closet they'd just as soon not be let out for the world to see. But if they are, those arrogant, pathetic, seat sniffers, would try to justify it on account of the 'hegemonous US trade policies'. .......

Be safe.

AYE, THE HOLY GRRRRAIL (you gotta roll your R's).

It must not translate well to Arabic, cuz if saddam spent more time watchin stuff like that he might lighten up a little and stop gassin his own people, killin in-laws,invading neighbors, etc. (well I can see killing in-laws)

I think it translated just fine into Arabic, but they only like the "bring out 'yer dead." line.
