Last November a few million well meaning but mathematically challenged Floridians went to the polls and voted in favor of an ammendment to our Constitution. Up for vote was a proposal to limit class sizes (number of students per teacher) in public schools. Needless to say the proposal passed with a huge margin.

In todays paper an article quoted the State Board of Education as "stunned" that they will need to hire 20,000 new teachers by August to meet the new guidelines.

So if you want to live in Florida get your teaching certificate and high-tail it here. Too bad the state is $4 Billion in the hole, so you probably won't get paid.

Wonder if the folks that voted for the ammendment will be bit@hing about their higher property taxes?

 

OK. but I'm tellin' ya right now if I don't get paid, I'm not teaching everything I know.

I wonder how long it will take for folks to realize that while all these government programs may be fantastic ideas the money just doesn't mysteriously appear to fund them!

I follow her around but I don't really know what she's doing.

 

C'mon guys. There's over 30,000 members on this site. I figure we can fill all the jobs by dividing up the courses between the logical strengths.

The Canadian guys can teach French, the L guys can teach Shop, the Photoshop guys can do Art, Audio can teach Music, Pre-97 can do History, RockPick can have Geology etc.

If we all pull together we can help keep my tax bill down.

I live up in north Florida and these lawmakers didn't think about what they were doing. Florida lawmakers have always been bad about that. What the failed to realize is that if they lowered the class sizes, what is the one thing that they have to have?

This is something that they didn't think of.

Oh yeah, I'll volunteer for something.

 

I guess I could be a French teacher if I have to.
I know some French, like:
"eek! A mouse!" and "Please don't hurt me, here's my wallet".

Just be forewarned that there are some words that can't be translated into French, such as:

Thank you
deodorant
military victory

 

If you're going to be a French teacher you better get this.
