and on another note...
That is in such bad taste to cut Emmit Smith. I am not really a cowboy fan and never have been (GO DOLPHINS!), but I really have a lot of respect for Emmit Smith. He is a great running back, and I think he has had a great attitude throughout his career. I kind of hope that Arizona releases Thomas Jones and he gets picked up by Dallas, the cowboys are more suited for the style of offense that Thomas is used to playing at, and it would probably be the break that he needed to be a franchise player in the NFL. I certainly do not like Dallas, but I have known Thomas since kindergarten, and if he goes there, then I, too will be a cowboys fan!
Hey it happens to the best of them. Jerry Rice being notable.
It'd be funny if Emmett hook up with the Raiders too.

"Knowing that the Cowboys were in a position where they had to make a tough situation," Smith said, "I had to ask myself if I really wanted to hinder the improvement of the ball club. If I were to remain here, there would be a lot of speculation on what Bill Parcells would do with me and I don't want to put my teammates through that. I didn't want to put myself through that."
"In my mind, I thought the best thing to do was to remove myself out of the equation and allow Jerry (Jones) and Bill to do the things they need to do to get this organization back to where it needs to be headed."
Smith, who quickly shot down any notion of retirement, said he plans on continuing his career with another team.
"I think the Cowboys are going in a different direction and they don't need any distractions," Smith said. "They need the flexibility and freedom to go and put together a ball club that is best for them. And I agree with them."
I've been a Cowboys fan for 36 years, Smith is class act.
I'll have two favorite teams next year, the 'boys and wherever Emmitt goes.
(Lord, I hope it ain't the Redskins)

I have always felt bad about the NFC Championship game back in I think, 1978(?).
Doug Williams was interviewed before before the game and said,
"We don't want no trouble. We just want to slip into Irving, get a win and slip out, quietly".
The mean ole' Cowboys wouldn't even let them get a TD, the Bucs tried everything they could in that game, I think the final was 38-3.

I have to admit I was pulling for the Bucs.

Their first Championship game was in 1979 against the Rams. The first NFC Championship game to ever be decided without a TD being scored
Which they lost ofcourse
My bad.
It was 1981 and just a Divisional Playoff game (38-0).
And that was the year Dwight Clark made 'The Catch' how could I forget that.
Doug Williams got a Ring later with the Skins anyway.
