Is my truck worth this?
Is my truck worth this?
I owe $16,972.91 on my truck below. It has every available option except bucket seats. I am thinking of trading it in on something bigger, but I know I will get screwed on that. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Very nice Truck! Unfortunatly the way the used car/truck market is right now you'll be lucky to out of it what you owe on it. Trade in values are at a all time low right now. Just check out KBB-----trade in prices are dropping by the day it seems!
Yea I noticed on kbb.com that sometime around January the value of my truck dropped at least $2k. Makes you not want to ever by a new car/truck again. Dissapointing to say the least.

When I traded my 99 in on my 01, I took a 5K hit up the dumper. I asked how the truck could be worth 5K less than I owed. The dealership answer was you lose 5K when you drive it off the lot. I worry more on the payments, than I do on the cost. So I told the dealership put the 5K on the 01 and find me a better financing deal so the payments would stay the same, guess what........they did
So thats what I had to do. Hope it all works out for you 02XLT

Or you could lease it, and just give it back at the end.
I leased mine for a 5 year at 18,000 miles per year agreement. At the end of the agreement, I will either give it back or pay $10,000 and keep it. Sure, I could have been paid it off in five years, but the payment would have been $200 per month higher. If I put that $200 a month in the bank for 5 years, I'd have way more cash ($12,000 not counting intrest, or investments) than the 5 year old paid off Truck would sell for.
My advice? If you know how many miles you are going to drive, negotiate a lease to suit you. Or pay the Truck off in two / three years max, drive it for a couple more years while stashing your "old truck payment money", then sell it ot trade it in on a new one.
Of course I won't keep it. I love that Truck, but I couldn't stand to see it getting older. Plus I need a bit more space.
I will be looking at a super crew (I will miss my curves) with the 6 1/2 foot bed when the timee comes. Prolly get blue again, but who knows?

if your loan allows this, pay extra money on your note every month, and put it to the principle and watch your payoff go down.
thats what i did, and my payoff was at 8000 last february, and now it is at 2500.
good luck

There are only two ways to get a reasonable price for your truck either sell to an individual or take it to Carmax. Carmax will give you a free apprasial and if you choose they will buy it from you or you can use the apprasial at the dealer to try to get a better price. My sister-in-law sold them her Windstar van and got about 3000.00 more than the dealer had offered.
I hate carmax. When you go there they will test your car for like 30 minutes! They check every damn thing to see if it works and then give you an offer that is way below what the car is worth!
Carmax: I see you have changed your mufflers
me: yes, I did
carmax:it is illegal to mess around with the emmisons of a car
me:wtf
them: ok because you "modified" the car it is worth 2000 less
me: hahahahahahah
Since when are flowmasters illegal. I hate that place and all of the idiots that work there. "we have a no hassle guarantee, all prices are clearly marked." It would be good if the cars were priced right.

Sorry a few had problems at Carmax but i was refering to selling to them not buying and i know for a fact they will pay more than the dealers at least around here they do. Jusy maybe those that think they got lowballed on price is because that is all it was really worth and naturally your perception would be that it is worth more than that because i owe more than that! That is what high interest rate will do for you. To each his own sell it how you want and just don't accept anything less than you think it's worth and you cannot go wrong _Bottom line!
