Believe it or not, Wild Rice is actually the "Official State Grain". Darn tasty stuff, except it stinks when you first cook it! Goes great with just about anything we hunt or fish for around here!

The Hamms Bear and the Jingle - now that berings back some memories!

Our finnish neighbors at the cabin up north ( ) make Kringle, but i can't say that we ever have. Christmas brings the usuals like lefse (the scandinavian tortilla!), lutefisk (really stinky fish - folks in my family actually DO eat it every year), kransakake (a ring cake with an almond flavor), krumkake (a rolled up crispy cookie), swedish sausage (has potatoes in it), etc... Good stuff!

Yeah, the smell is enough to stop a charging rhino in its tracks and send it packing. Usually have 1 or 2 people that eat it, nobody else will get close to it.

Yet more worthless information:

Minnesota's "unofficial" state soil"

The Lester series!

Wisconsin's state insect- the lakefly.
Try and get those suckers off your truck before they attack the paint.
Never played Euchre, but played a lot of Sheepshead!

36fan- so far, nothing on the deer kill. It's hung up in gov. red tape. They'd like to expand the season because of overcrowding and the chronic wasting disease.

Never had a kringle, but I've had pastys(Northen Michigan meat and potato thingie).

green_98: i think he's saying he's from wis. but now lives in florida.

how about playing smear. or going to school when there was a fresh 6 inches of snow because that was not nearly enough to shut down the school system.
