Doubtful...

My 93 Chevy is still running strong at 203,845 miles. Original engine/tranny. Only normal wear parts and maintenance items needed. Still looks and drives like new. I have a buddy with 275,000 miles on his 91 Chevy and its still running just as strong as mine.

But we got 2 Fords rusting out back that need to be taken to the junkyard. My first truck, an 88 F-150 with 168,000 miles is dead on its 2nd engine and tranny. And a 86 Ford van, with a shot tranny and almost dead engine, 180,000 miles. But we do have a couple other Ford pickups that keep on going. One with 185,000 and the other with 150,000 (2nd engine.) They are pretty tore up though, one of them with no grille! Kind of looks like a redneck grin on that front end.

Well I think you deserve a BIG prize. You own some sh*tboxes that have actually lasted. That should be on national TV or something, it has got to be a record. How many sets of blocks have you gone through with them there Chevy's? I imagen you have a family gathering at your local Chevy repair shop on a weekly basis, hey theres Gus now

Guess the truth hurts about for every one Ford you seen tore up there is a least 50 Chevys in the junk yard.

Do you know why Chevy parts are so much cheaper then Ford parts?

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner.... your right because they are the FASTEST saling item on the block. Thats why they say used Chevys are a dime a dozen, because parts are so damn cheap to fix them. They should be cheap in price since just about every part on a Chevy is plastic... WTF is your problem? I really hope that you are making those comments tongue in cheek and joking. I was merely stating my experience. I never bashed Fords and I dont think I deserve to be labeled a trailer trash redneck with a Camaro up on blocks.

I like Fords, thats why I am on this site. I also like Chevys and I have had good luck with my truck. A family member owned this truck previously, I bought it with 140,000 miles on it and it has been very reliable and has done alot of work in its life. The previous owner pulled a 5000 lb boat 300 miles round trip every weekend up to his lake cabin during the summer. During the winter he pulled a four place sled trailer up to the same cabin almost every weekend.

I use it as my daily driver, getting to and from work and school, and I also use it for farming with my dad. It hauls a 100 gallon fuel tank during busy times of the year, hauls pallets of seed, and herbicide tanks. I have also used it to pull a 1000 gallon fertilizer nurse tank which weighs around 12,000 pounds loaded. Yeah its heavy and is overloading the truck. But I am only driving back roads at 45-50 mph and taking it down rough and muddy field roads. I has never missed a beat and never left me on the side of the road like my Ford did.

The truck has only needed normal scheduled maintenance, and normal wear items. To date this is what has been replaced on the truck:
1 water pump
1 thermostat
2 batteries
2 alternators (one was a cheap reman)
1 starter
1 front end rebuild (ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm)
All four u-joints at once, one was bad so I replaced all of them with greasable ones.
1 set of shocks
Tires as needed and alignments only needed when replacing tires.
Then just normal brake work, 2 sets of rotors and drums, new pads and shoes as needed. It still has the original calipers and wheel cylinders.

Other than that it is just regular oil changes and chassis lubrication every 3000-4000 miles, tranny flush every 30,000. Plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, and air filter every 30,000-40,000 miles and regular front and rear diff and transfer case oil changes. Oh and I replaced the crappy thermal front axle actuator with an electric solenoid one.

Take care of your Chevy and it will take care of you. Same thing with Ford.

Dodge is a different story however.

Check out my photo gallery
here. I think you will notice that there is no vehicle up on blocks, no trailer park. Just a good looking reliable truck.

I know its a Ford site, I know nobody here is a big Chevy fan. The whole reason I brought it up is just to have a little fun and maybe get a little recognition for a reliable truck. Im not trying to get anyone here to drive a Chevy, you guys love your Fords and thats great. I love Ford trucks too, so much so that I plan on one being my next truck. Thats why Im here.

I dont mind a little bit of brand wars - good natured ribbing. But 01 XLT Sport seems to have it out for me. He has attacked me before for no good reason and is back at it. He is a staunch conservative who drives a Ford and I dont think he wants a moderate Democrat who drives a Chevy on this board. I dont want to stir up trouble, Im just here learn about the new Fords, to talk about trucks, and whatever other subject comes up on this board for discussion...like politics. And sometimes I just want to have a little fun without attacking someone, their opinions, or their trucks.

Im alot like my Grandfather, he LOVED to argue. He argued for the sake of arguing. When the Twins were in the World Series back in '87 and '91 me and my brother were really excited. But just to pull our chain he rooted for the other team. But it was never serious, just a way to pass the time and have some fun.

Who are you with the CIA or FBI? You done a great job on your research, which I believe, you deserve a gold star. What I cannot figure out for the life of me is who the hell you are. I don’t mean any disrespect by that. You mentioned I have attacked you before for no good reason, and that I don’t want you here because you’re a democrat and a Chevy driver. Well I didn’t know you were democrat until you posted, and the Chevy thing was from your post. I don’t know how you put that all together but your wrong.

I don’t run this site, and even if I did I would not tell anybody they couldn’t be here because they were a democrat. Now if someone was coming to this site to talk crap about Fords etc then my “personal” opinion is they don’t belong here. It has nothing to do with your politics.

Now you or anyone else can go back and read the post your referring to and point out to me where I called you a redneck with a Camaro on blocks and trailer trash. You must be dazed and confessed from something. You sound paranoid, man don’t sweat it dude, everything is cool there is no black hello’s coming from them fields over younder. I am not a BIG mean conservative republican and by no means RICH. Now Harley and Fast Gator them two are RICH FAT CAT’S…

Dude Im just jokin around. I apologize if I didnt make that clear. Ive been typing fast and maybe not being as careful as I should. You probably dont remember but we have had some political debates on here in the past.

How many sets of blocks have you gone through with them there Chevy's? I imagen you have a family gathering at your local Chevy repair shop on a weekly basis, hey theres Gus now
I do believe it was you who said that correct? That implies to me that I got a bunch of Chevy's up on blocks. And the stereotypical image comes up to me is a eighties/nineties Camaro IROC Z up on blocks in a trailer park. That is all. Im not paranoid, just havin some fun like I said. And I dont think I have been talkin crap about Fords have I?

Anyhow...I have no hard feelin's. Hope you dont either 01 XLT Sport. Take it easy man. Catch ya later.

Well WAIT A DAMN MINUTE!!!!!

What is wrong with owning a Chevy Camaro and living in a trailer park. I lived in a trailer park for about a year and owned a 79 Camaro Z-28, 400 small block built, 445rwhp. However when ever I raced it I always removed the straw from my mouth...

I beat quit a few Ford Mustangs 5.0 with that bad boy, it was a fine money making machine.

No hard feelings, all in fun, but I did own the Camaro above and live in a trailer park for about a year.

Uh oh...now I am in BIG trouble. I got Cowlady mad at me! When are you guys usually in chat? Im not online that often. Most of the time it is in the morning or late at night. Like 11 central time or later. Im in college and I have a fiancee' and she keeps me pretty busy. If Im not doing homework or working, I am usually with her or talking to her on the phone. I will try to make it into chat sometime...I promise.

Gator...ha ha. It runs and drives just as good as new. Which is better than my previous Ford. But Im sure its not as good as a newer FOORD!

01 XLT Sport...that is funny as hell, I never would have guessed. While not a 68 or 69 Z-28 that car you had sounds like a kick in the pants. Im glad we understand each other now.

Well the job interview went well. I should find out by Monday but he was very impressed. If all goes well I will be an Assistant Service Manager for a local dealer that sells farm and lawn equipment, skidsteers, and Ski-Doo snowmobiles and ATV's. Wish me luck.
