Thumbs up cool story

Last year I was driving my 1968 AMX. It has a stock 73 401 with a 727 and a mild stall converter. Offy 360 equa flow. Duals, headers, 3.54 open, Holley 650. I pull up to an intersection by the University in Edmonton Alberta. My car is running super rich and about one time in ten it quits if you try to mat it from a stop. Sounds like a total piece. This newish purple prelude pulls up beside me and revs his engine. Summer and all I have my window down. I look over, can't see through the tint. He rolls down his window and asks if I wanna go. Now the AMX is shaking at idle like a race car. If you can't smell the gas being spit out the exhaust it sounds deadly. Like a racecar that has the idle set low. Lucky for me the wind is straight in my face.

I tell the guy that he needs a waaayyyy better car if he wants to step up. And that I won't race a winged and rimmed ricer. He asks if I am scared. I say as if (can't see out of the rearview mirror car is shaking so bad). He says he is gonna go on it and show me what he's got so I will race him at the next light. Whatever. He revs his car to the redline (what is it 8 or 9000 in those Vtec's), the light is not yet yellow in the other direction. LOL. He holds it at redline for about 8 seconds and when the light turns green he musta sidesteps the clutch. KABOOM. Clutch Disc, Inspection cover, spring pak, the entire clutch falls out on the ground. Never laughed so hard in my life. I idled away with a sly grin on my face and then matted it once it was rolling. Shot away like a rocket. Turned around to see the look in his face. He was nearly crying and grabbing his phone. Had to get off the street before his buddy's saw him probably.
