HELP! Need Extended Warranty

I would appreciate if people could send me suggestions of a good warranty company. Please do not recommend me to any company that you have not used. There are so many out there I do not know where to begin. Also, what are some of the things I need to watch for between the lines.

Welcome to the boards!!

I don't know about which company is better or worse then any other because how the service is offered/managed can vary a great deal from place to place.

What I can tell you is the contracts are generally divided by type of service covered (Silver,Gold,Platinum etc). These service levels are very clear about what they cover and what they don't. The last time I got one I took the Gold (2nd best) package because the extra$$ for top coverage was for "Premium Audio,Electric Seats,Air Suspension" etc that my truck didn't have anyhow.

There are also often deductibles on what you owe to get stuff fixed; check and compare those charges carefully they will vary.

Lastly, some contracts require you to use specific outlets for the repair; that my not be a big deal if the shop is close, but can bite you for a repair when you're out of town.

I'm sure you'll get a lot more replies, Good Luck.

I would only go with the Ford ESP also. If you do a search on this site, you should be able to find the contact information for a guy at a dealership in Stanton, TX who sells any level of ESP for $50 over dealer cost.

The Ford ESP plan is universally accepted at all Ford/Lincoln Mercury dealerships. That cann't be said of the after market extended warranty programs that are offered. Its your money, spend wisely

It depends on what you want covered and how you want to pay/be reimbursed.

Aftermarket warranties typically do not cover bumper to bumper. They are usually much less. If you go with the Ford ESP, be sure and buy it before your factory warranty expires, afterward, you cannot purchase it. Same goes for extending a 6yr 75K mile ESP to 100K... gotta do it before the 3yr 36K factory warranty expires or you can't do it.... FWIW....

I have an aftermarket warranty. I have had 0 problems getting repairs. So far 2 alts and a radiator. I am $200 ahead of the game. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
