INTERNET VIRUS started this AM @8est
We are having severe network issues (congestion) in our networks. We are not able to connect to much of anything in Chicago on At&t networks. LOOK OUT!!!! BEWARE!!!
I just received a Teletype Notice advising it is a worm. To make a long story short, it affects Microsoft SQL server 2000. There a a couple of things that need to be done to stop it if you are running these servers.
1. Block TCP and UDP port 1434 inbound and outbound
2. Remove any Microsoft SQL servers from the network
3. Re-boot Microsoft SQL servers to clear the worm from memory.
4. for further info go to :

gator,
When it first hit our network I could connect to FTW and F150online. Once it was in full force we were helpless until we disconnected our servers.
If you were at home on your personal PC, it should have only slowed down the internet for you. If you were at work, it would have stopped your network.

I was just reading the morning paper, and there was a large article about it.
They said it began at 12:30am and sought out vulnerable computers on the interent using a know flaw in Microsofts "SQL Server 2000" The attacking software was scanning for victim computers so randomly and so aggressively, sending out thousands of probes a second, that it saturated many Internet data pipelines
Thanks for you info

That's it! You said it. We saw it first hand and actually it hit us again as soon as they powered up one of the boxes again this morning(like a idiot)
I was on a conference call this morning for 3 more hours and they finally found which SQL server it was that was left on or turned back on. Either way it screwed us again today!
