Need help with computer.
Need help with computer.
When I turn my computer on, it always goes into "safe mode" for some reason. And then a box pops up and says "windows cannot detect a mouse." And then it says turn off your computer and connect the mouse and restart your computer. WTF? Anyone know what the problem could be? Any help will be greatfully appreciated.
It is in the right place. But I have to unplug it, and then plug it right back in the same usb port. After that, it'll work. But every morning when I go to start my puter, it goes into "safe mode", and it says it can't detect a mouse. And then it says to plug in the mouse and restart your computer. Then everything will work ok until the next morning when it does the same thing again. What gives?
bikenut, this is a new mouse i just bought about 3 weeks ago. And my computer is a Hewlett Packard. The mouse is plugged into the usb port where my cd burner used to be. My computer dealer said it work fine there.
My first mouse(Don't know what kind it was) had a small round plug with 5 or 6 little prongs. The new mouse is a Kensington with a usb port connector that attaches to my modem. So it has a different connector than the first. The guy who sold it to me said it should work in any usb port.

You might need to remove the CD Burner software and/or clear the CD Burner entry in the registry. It probably thinks the CD Burner is still there and not the mouse. When you unplug the mouse from the usb, then plug it back in, it forces it to "read" the device and thus recognizes the mouse...
Thanks. Now I believe I know what's going on. My sis get's on the puter late at night. And she's not shutting the computer off properly. I also cleared the cd burner out of the registry and it has'nt been acting up at all. Thanks for all the help.
