Just bought a 1998 Ranger Stepside!!!!!!!!!!
Here;s the story.
Thursday night of last week Dad and I went crusing the lots to see what was out there for small trucks. Over at the GM dealership about midway in the line sits a 1998 Ford Ranger Stepside. We got out of the car, looked at it briefly and saw that we like it. Dad suggested to me that I come back and talk to one of the salesmen about it.
Friday comes and I get down there and sure enough there is salesman I know over there who is my best friends Dad. We talked about it and from what he told me, it sounded like a pretty solid truck. He handed me the keys and showed it to me briefly, I was very pleased. I fired it up and told him I was going on test drive and show my Dad. Says ok, take your time with it. So i showed it too Dad after he comes home from Lunch and we talked about it and then went out on alittle joy ride. Dad really likes it and me as well. I returned it to the dealer and went back home.
That night after Dad got off of work he comes home with the Ranger. Says he got it to test drive over the weekend. I knew right there he was serious about it. Mom was very happy with it and she liked it alot. We all got our share to drive it, evaluate it.
Monday rolls around, Judgement Day. This is the big day where a big decision will take place. Dad gets off work early. Me and dad head down to the dealer to see if we can buy the Ranger. I had my hopes up, fingers crossed and praying to the almighty. Dad, me, and the salesguy all sit down and talk about it to see what we can do. Since we found some minor flaws in the Ranger but nothing to really get worked up about, Dad decided to so dome negotiating. The original asking price as $5995. The Door Ajar light stayed on all the time and the dome light doesn't work when you open the door.
Dad made the first offer at $4500, fix the light and door ajar light. Salesguy comes back, can't do it. So I"m thinking, $h!t!!! Dad tries again at $4750 fix the dome light and ajar light. Salesmen comes back, done!! Sold!!!!!! I'm smiling ear to ear and I felt like I jsut lost 100lbs off my head, lol I will pick up the Ranger on Wednesday when they fix everything. So here's what we bought for $4750

nice, i might be heading down that same road soon myself. when my truck broke down on me before new years, i thought i lost my clutch, but as it turns out it is the clutch(not much left on it), rear end(split the ring gear), front bearings, breakes all around, and new tires in the rear. so good luck with the truck!!

Tks to my Mom and Dad's help i was able to purchase the Ranger. All should go well with it. Tks to my dad to make sure that it was the right one, we went over every square cm of the Ranger's mechanicals and cosmetics to ensure that this is the one for me. I will post some pics A.S.A.P As far as mods go, I'm not touching that thing!!, LOL I learned some big lessons from my F150. It hurt me financially and about 80% of the crap I did to that poor thing, it didn't even need it and it only made matters worse, so maybe on down the road aways I will do some minor mods to it, but until then it's staying just the way it is, BONE STOCK!! LOL Again Thank you everyone.

Alright man!! Glad to see it happened! I knew it was a done deal when it came home for the weekend to visit. As far as mods go, at least put some Cobra R rims and a chip on it, and a rear anti sway bar if it doesn't have one already. Those three things will make it even more enjoyable to drive, and won't hurt in the looks dept. Anyway, glad you finally got something that won't eat up your money in gas and repairs!
