The last time I was at the track with my L I seen a older primed VW bug pull up the the line. I started to smirk a little until I seen the time he ran. I almost fell over. He pulled a 10.78!! I was shocked This thing sounded the same as a stocker. Is he spraying like a 250 shot in this thing or what.?So it got me thinking. My daughter will be driving in a few years and likes racing and bugs What does it take to get one of these things running 11's? I think this could be a fun project Does anyone know where I could research this or anyone here ever work on a bug? Hey at least it's not rice

 

There's a guy around here that stuffed a modified 350 in his bug, I don't know the numbers, but that car will fly!

 

My older brother was into VWs when I was a kid. What I found out is that since Porche/Audi/VW are all the same company (Autounion AG) parts are very interchangeable. My brother had a '68 beetle with an engine from a 914 (dual carbs etc). It bolted right in and replaced the 40 hp stock engine; I think it took him a single Saturday to do the job.

A teenage girl and an 11 second just don't mix. You might want to get her an SUV or something a bit more safe. If you want the bug...get it for yourself...personally...i hate 'em -

 

I agree. I hate them too. Bugs arent safe. I couldn't imagine an 11 second one. There is nothing in front of them to save them if they get in a wreck.

 

You guys have to give me some credit. I didn't mean she would be the one driving it down the strip. Obviously to get a car like that in the 11's it would have to have a Nitrous system on it. I meant it as more of a project we can work on together. Of course she wouldn't be driving it unless I was in the car with her.

 

The only thing I know about Bugs, be it VW or the little slimy things crawling around on the ground is my truck can CRUSH em'.

Some bugs (VW) may be faster then my truck, but I can still CRUSH em' like a little tin can.
