K&N Air Raid 1

What are the improvements of this system compared to just using a filter?
This is going to be put on a 2003 V-10.

you'll get more flow with the added benifit of more dirt in your engine and on your MAF causing your enigne premature wear. a little more HP sure but at what cost.

Maintain your K&N properly and you won't have any wear/tear issues. I've been using K&N's for 13 years and not one problem on any vehicle whatsoever.

I cleaned the filter on mine, (the engine destroying Airaid ) about 3 months ago after about a year and a half in dusty North Texas. I checked down through the tube, and everything I could touch to see if I could find the dust that someone posted they had all inside theirs. Not one partical that I could find anywhere. Everything was clean as a whistle.

You can see the install of the Airaid on mine from the link in my sig. I've got the silver tube. I understand they can also be black. Not sure if it's a preference thing or not.

I'm very happy with mine. I greatly reduced the lag, or rather dog a$$ dead truck feel they get after sitting in 110 degree heat in traffic and you start to take off and the truck doesn't want to move. It sounds good and it along with the exhaust, chip etc. yields me great power and MPG. Towing my 7500# boat it runs great and I get 11-12 MPG and worst (heat, AC heavy winds and loaded) of >10 MPG. Unloaded I've gotten a best of 19 HWY and generally about 14-15 around town. Oh did I mention it sounds cool?
