7.3 deisel vs 6.0 deisel?

Need your guys input. I am wanting to buy a new F250 with the deisel and I am wondering if I should wait for the new powerstroke or go with the current one. The first year thing scares me and the trans is new also. Thanks for your help. ALSO, any info on the duramax and trans?

7.3 vs. 6.0 deisel

I would not buy a first year model of anything. My experience over the years has been negative. The first 6 months Ford will identify problems and develop fixes for late in the year and into 2004. The 7.3 is a proven unit. You can't lose with it.

However, all that being said, the 6.0 sounds like a great new motor (after debugging). It should be quiter and get better mileage and have performance at least as good as the 7.3.

I would wait until next June or July and buy late 2003 or 2004 6.0 diesel.

I would either get a 7.3 or wait a year or two to get the 6 liter..

The DuraJAP has its own share of problems as well...I work with a guy that has one 346 miles and they replaced the PCM, I am following a story of a guy in Alaska that blew his head gaskets out with less then 70000...Dead end fuel system is cooking the fuel...

They all have their inherited problems that you should be aware of and head them off before they take their toll...Like the fuel system..

Thanks for the info, what do you think the best mods for the 7.3 are without sacrificing reliability?

Fuel system mods first, so it runs like it is supposed to...Then like always open the back and front end, this is all free as far as reliability and longevity, and if this is not enough then and only then go for the heart (chip)...

Terry...I can give you more about the mods if you want..I have a bunch of pictures of the installed mods on my website-which is a little rough though..

I read some more on the Durajap and it is having its share of problems right now...It has fuel system problems as well, And get this it is starting to show cylinder head/gasket/block problems..

Can you believe that--on high compression diesel engine with steel block and aluminum heads....imagine that...PROBLEMS..

Cracked blocks and heads, blown gaskets, leaking coolant..

But dont take my word for it..read the chevy forums...

Let me know, I have taken the chance and have ordered the new 6.0. I like the trans more than anything else. At least I can drive both before I buy.

LOL..That was a good one and true none the less...

dieselpage.com

Be forewarned....On that website, the head problems are ones that are posted, not the total amount, they are trying to keep it secret...
