Has anyone here ever serviced the transmission yet?

My 2000 7.3 Crew Cab has about 32,000 miles on it and I am thinking about dropping the pan cover, changing the filter and replacing the fluid. Has anyone here ever serviced their own transmission? My truck has been heavily towed but, the trans fluid is still clear. I don't trust the Ford transmissions since some of my PSD friends had their tranmissions replaced within 50,000 miles. Please let me know your experiences. Thanks. Bugman.

As swofford has pointed out..the auto is the weak point of these trucks...bad...

Yes I have changed mine..

I made the plunge and invested heavily...

I bought the deep pan for mag-hytec which is 25 qts...I used amsoil synthetic and installed a transgo shift kit...all this was I think $500+...But short of an after market T/C this will bullet proof the trans...

I have guages on mine and it dropped temps by 40 degrees...

I would recomend these mods to anyone that has a SD..

At the very least go with the synthetic oil...

BTW--with the stock everything my temps hit 190 in these summers of TEXAS at 113 degrees...This will absolutely kill a AT..

Thanks for responding. Two of my friends have already replaced their transmissions, one is on his third and the other is on his second. I just leary about mine. It seems ok for now, but I don't want to wait until 50,000 miles to get it changed. I will change the fluid next week. I will look into the synthetic trans. fluid. Thanks.
