Question SuperChip in a 250SD/5.4L

Have any of you 250SD/5.4L - Auto Trans. owners put Mike's Chip into your truck? Any increase in the gas mileage to offset the Ethel price (you old geazers know what I'm talking about)?

Yes, I have Mike's flip-chip in my 5.4. Don't count on any mileage increase to justify/offset the cost. I haven't seen any. I am happy with it, but I also think of the chip as only one part of the whole package, that includes a better air intake (your choice) and exhaust (again, your choice). Any one mod by itself doesn't seem like it adds that much, but all three together make for a much more driveable F250!

My next planned mod is an electric radiator fan(s), but I haven't found one specifically listed for the 250SD - there have been posting about using a salvage yard Crown-Vic fan, but that requires keeping the stock fan shroud, and I was hoping to eliminate it along with the stock fan and clean-up/make room in the engine compartment for the future (super charger).

Hokey scmokes, dtyo. I'd love to know what supercharger you're going with and the results afterwards. I've also been thinking about doing an electric fan mod. Seems as though it's one of those things the F150 boys get first.

As for the chip, DO IT DO IT DO IT. I absolutely love having mine. It's now been a month and a half since installation and I still can't get use to the power. Mpg has stayed about the same. I'm sure if I could feather the gas for one tank, I'd see an increase. Yeah right . Instead of 2 left feet, I've got one lead foot.

But beyond the power and mpg, there's more benefits to the chip. Right after installation, the truck ran smoother and quieter. It seemed as though the functioning of all the mechanical parts operated with more efficiency and ease.

Bottom line, the cost of the chip and higher octane will be null and void when compared to the benefits. CHIP IT!!

Good luck!

Dont buy the chip for fuel economy. To get a small fuel economy increase, you need to switch to 91 or better octane. So the increased cost of fuel will offset any fuel gains (if not cost more depending on your area)

Of course, the chip will give a little more performance...
