Replaced engine at 106,000 with an 08 engine (no history), had spark plugs done shortly after, and had to replace drives side VCT solenoid last year, and just replace Cylinder 3 fuel injector.. Put about 74,000 miles on this engine, it now has a minor phasor rattle according to my mechanic who recommended 10W30 to quiet and extend life and possible replacement coming. Is there anything else I should be doing, and what else should I be prepared to have done to this engine (~180,000 miles and counting). I've actually had my best fuel mileage the last few months.

I would recommend installing a Melling M-360HV oil pump and use OEM phasers and what not. Don't go cheap on it, or you'll be doing it again in short order.

Thanks for the info, having minor start misses, already had Cylinder 3 injector replaced, but could it also timing be related? No codes.
As for pump, my 06 5.4 engine was previously replaced with an 08, but I don't know origin, so it appears I need the Melling M-340HV. Unfortunately RockAuto doesn't sell the Motorcraft Timing Chain and Component Kit. What engine information should I have to ensure I grab the right parts?
