Question Hard starting 7.3

This is the first time i have wrote to this web page. I have a f-350 crewcab 4x4 off road diesel (turbo) not a powerstoke. The truck is a 1994 model with 240000 miles on it. The injecters where changed about 45000 miles ago and new glow plugs installed. The trucks starts and blows white smoke bad and has a bad miss in it., after the truck warms up it is fine no problems. The injecter pump has never been touched. If anyone has any info i could use it. Also i have heard that the 1994 models have a knocking noise in the lower end, one person said it was wrist pin slap, has anyone else heard of that year have alot of problems with this. Thanks for any help.......

Diesel engines that blow white smoke on start up often have a problem with injector leaks air in fuel lines, and fuel starvation. That it goes away when the engine warms up suggests that could be the problem. I have not had that problem with my Powerstroked F450 yet, (150K) ... but I have had semi's with that problem. If ignored the problem will get very much worse. Either do it yourself or have someone else check the injectors, and intake system.

I just want to welcome both Theologian and Triplespool to the Ford board. Two new diesel people in one day, cool

wish I knew something about the older powerstroke to help but the best I can do is to point you to another board that deals in nothing but diesels www.ford-diesel.com When you find out what your problem is, post back here.
